Manochahal Kalan is a village in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, India between Tarn Taran and Naushehera Pannuan, although to the left of the main NH54.[1]

The main town, Manochahal, is 125 acres in size and there are various establishments around the area including Gurudwaras, historical Havelis, schools and more.[1]

History edit

Earlier Manochahal Kalan known as Chak Zora Singhwala, who was a Sikh warrior who fought alongside the Patiala State against Raja Maha Singh.[1] It changed to Manochahal Kalan as a wealthy businessman named Mano Singh Chahal bought 10-15 properties in the village and it slowly became the name of the villagers and a common name in the village.[1]

It has a total 1227 families residing. The Manochahal village has population of 6942 of which 3662 are males while 3280 are females as per Population Census 2011. In Manochahal village population of children with age 0-6 is 824 which makes up 11.87 % of total population of village.[1]
