Draft:Kuhn Medal of Honour

The Kuhn Medal of Honour has been awarded by the Fachverband Kathodischer Korrosionsschutz (FKKS), (transl. German Cathodic Corrosion Protection Association) since 1970 to deserving pioneers of cathodic protection for their life's work.[1][2][3]

Robert J. Kuhn helped to bring about the breakthrough of cathodic protection of pipelines around 1928. He is is regarded as the founder of the protection potential criterion for CP on buried pipelines, -0.85 V vs. Copper–copper(II) sulfate electrode (CSE), which is still valid today.[4][5][6][7][8][9]

In 1958, Robert J. Kuhn received the Frank Newman Speller Award from the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) — formerly the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE).[10]
