Justin John Harvey (born 27 March, 1991) is a South African actor based in South Korea.[1] He has gained recognition as one of only a handful of working foreign actors in the Korean film industry. Notably, Harvey portrayed the character Tom, a mercenary, in the movie The Witch: Part 2.

Career edit

Harvey began his career as a a commercial model and entertainer on Korean variety shows such as 'Welcome, first time in Korea,' and 'South Korean Foreigners'.[2] He then transitioned into acting, taking on smaller roles in films like Ashfall.

After these initial steps, Harvey experienced his breakthrough with his role in the movie "The Witch: Part 2. The Other One," directed by acclaimed filmmaker Park Hoon-Jung, marking a significant turning point in his career. Known for his rugged appearance, fit physique, and martial arts skills, Harvey quickly garnered attention and became one of the most active foreign actors in Korea. Excelling in action roles, he became a sought-after talent in the industry. Additionally, due to his physicality, Harvey was also cast in Season 2 of Netflix's popular survival show Physical 100 in which he came fourth out of 100 participants.

Recognition and Awards edit

In 2021, Harvey was awarded an honorary citizenship for rescuing a person attempting suicide at the Han River. His courageous act caught the attention of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, which officially recognized his heroism by conferring this honor upon him.[3] During a ceremony held at City Hall, Mayor Oh Se-hoon praised Harvey's bravery and contributions to the local community.[4]

Personal life edit

Harvey is native in English and Afrikaans, and fluent in Korean. He also studied Zulu at The University of Pretoria.

Harvey is the Vice chair of The South African chair of Commerce in Korea.[5]
