Everybody's Worried About Owen (EWAO) is a solo music project by singer-songwriter Owen Trawick.[1] Trawick takes inspiration from many 5th-wave emo, folk punk, and other genres into his music, being inspired by bands such as The Mountain Goats, Modern Baseball, Bears in Trees, and other bands of the genre(s). He released his debut single, The Soccer Journals, on June 25, 2021, later releasing Mawce a month later. His first E.P., There Are Leeches In Denton Lake, was released on September 10. After working for over a year and a half on it, Trawick released his debut album, Nunemaker's Swingset, on May 1, 2023. He has amassed over 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify,[2] and gained a cult-like following over the internet.
History
editEarly Life/Pre-EWAO
editOwen Trawick was born on February 8, 2002, and raised in/around the small Hudson River community of Blauvelt, New York, only 25 miles north of New York City. He began guitar lessons when he was roughly 6 years old, but dropped it in middle school, picking it back up again in High School. He graduated from Clarkstown South High School in 2020, and begun attending college at the University of Miami soon after. He is now studying to get his BFA in Musical Theatre.[3]

Everybody's Worried About Owen
editTrawick was attending college when the pandemic hit. While quarantining, he became bored and decided to write a song at least once per day. He continued for roughly a month, until he had some songs which he considered good. He then thought of putting out an E.P., but decided against it in favor of just to continue writing music until he thought he was good enough, and he could put the music out there.
The name Everybody's Worried About Owen came to him while Trawick was, quote, "going through one of the worst depressive episodes of my life." His friends back in New York had become accustomed to his severe depressive episodes, but his new friends at University were unaware that it was normal for him, so they were, quite literally, 'worried about Owen.' Trawick settled on the name, and put out his debut single The Soccer Journals, on June 23, 2021, releasing on all major streaming platforms. This single did moderately well for a new artist, but it wasn't until a month later, when he released his second single Mawce when his music began to gain traction.[5] He self-released his first E.P., There Are Leeches In Denton Lake,[6] on September 10, 2021. The namesake of the album is the real-life Denton Lake, in Holmes, New York. The lake was the center point for the Holmes Presbyterian Camp & Conference Center,[7] the summer camp Trawick attended as a child. After he completed Denton Lake, he decided to write, produce, and self-publish his debut album, Nunemaker's Swingset, in which he explores themes of heartbreak, self-destructive ideation, anger, sadness, and other strong emotions. Fans of EWAO have said that this is his best work yet.
All of his album cover arts (with exception of Mawce) are by Trawicks close friend, Emilie Kelly.[8] Kelly & Trawick have been personal friends since their childhoods.
