Chudleigh House School[1] is an independent educational institution located in Chudleigh, Lusaka, Zambia. The school operates three distinct divisions on the same campus: the Petronella Chisanga Early Learning Center (PCELC), the Primary School, and the Senior Secondary School.

History

The school was conceived by Mrs. Petronella Chisanga and supported by Mrs. Lalita Money, Mrs. Dorothy Kasanda[2], Mrs. Lucy Musonda, and Mrs. Maud Moonzwe as promoters.[3] It was officially inaugurated on July 16, 1993, by Mr. John Mupanga Mwanakatwe, the then Chancellor of the University of Zambia. The school boast of a number of notable alumni including Abhinav Walia[4] the only amateur/junior golfer to make the cut at the 2015 Zambia Sugar Open and won the Lusaka Open Championship in 2014.

Initially opening its doors in June 1991, the school began with a new pre-school, starting with 5 children and 3 teachers. By the time of its official opening in 1993, the school had grown to 65 students and had fully established its early 1st and 2nd Grade classes.

Campus

Since its inception, the campus has been an ongoing construction site. The blueprint, designed by architect Mr. Makungo, outlines numerous structures and features deemed essential for the institution's completeness. These include a library, a swimming pool, a multi-purpose hall, three administration blocks, a staff room, and a practical subject and resource center, among others.

Academics

Chudleigh House School offers a well-rounded curriculum encompassing both academic and co-curricular programs. The school follows the Zambian National Curriculum, which is integrated with elements from the National Curriculum of England, particularly in the area of Computing for subjects like ICT.

Student life

Students at Chudleigh House School engage in various extracurricular activities, including sports, music, drama, and clubs. The school promotes a vibrant student life with numerous student organizations and events throughout the year hosting phenomenal Zambian celebrities like Yo Maps, Slapdee etc.

The school's administrative structure includes a Headteacher for the Petronella Chisanga Early Learning Center (PCELC), a Headteacher for the Primary School, and a Headteacher for the Secondary School. Each division is staffed with qualified and dedicated teachers committed to providing quality education.

Community Involvement

The school actively participates in various community outreach programs focused on enhancing education and welfare in the local community. Notable initiatives include the Palabana Community Outreach Program and the recently introduced the Drop A Coin campaign.
