Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Mishra is a legal scholar serving as Professor, Head of Department and Dean of Academic Affairs at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University in Sonepat, India. He has made notable academic and administrative contributions in the field of law and governance.[1]

Prof. Mishra completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM) degrees from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He later earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Law from the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi.[2] [1]

Academic career edit

Early in his career, Prof. Mishra worked as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He had also served as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Delhi School of Public Policy and Governance under the University of Delhi.[3][4] [2][5] [6][3] Presently, he serves as Professor, Head of Department and Dean of Academic Affairs at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University in Sonepat, India.

In his academic career, Prof. Mishra has led various research sponsored by government bodies some of the major projects including projects on mediation funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (2019-2020); a study analysing mediation for business dispute resolution supported by the Ministry of Law, Government of India (2019-2021); an empirical examination of domestic violence in Delhi sponsored by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India (2020–2023); and an investigation into traditional knowledge systems financed by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Goverment of India .[5]

Association with Administrative Bodies edit

Prof. Mishra has been an associated as a member of various administrative bodies and university committees over the years. He was appointed the Nodal Officer for the selection of the Vice Chancellor of Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari, North Maharashtra University.[3] The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India also nominated him as a legal expert advising the Office of Controller of Certifying Authorities.[4]

Furthermore, he is serving as a member of General Council of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law.[7] He has also been the Governor’s Nominee on the Academic Council of the Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhavati State University in Rajasthan.[5]

Prof. Mishra has played a significant role in organizing various international and national conferences, seminars, webinars, and workshops on Mediation, Intellectual Property Rights, copyright, and other law and jurisprudence topics. Few of his notable contributions are:

He served as Conference Co-Director In Knowledge Partnership with Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) Under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. [6]

  • 1st and 2nd International Conferences on Mediation (2019 and 2021)

He served as Conference Director of the 1st and 2nd International Conferences on Mediation held in collaboration with the Supreme Court of India and Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India in 2019 and 2021 respectively. These well-attended conferences brought together leading mediation experts, judges, lawyers, and academics. [7] [8]

  • 3rd International Conference on Mediation (2022)

In April 2022, serving as Conference Director for the 3rd International Conference on Mediation, organized in association with the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, and Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Over 10,000 judges, academics, and mediation specialists are expected to participate in this prestigious conference.[8] [9] [9][10]

Apart from the International and National Conferences he has organized numerous international and national conferences, seminars, webinars, and workshops on various law and jurisprudence topics. These events have provided a platform for legal professionals, scholars, and students to exchange knowledge and ideas on different legal topics.

In 2023, Prof. Mishra was awarded the prestigious Soul of India Award by the House of Lords, United Kingdom for his vital contributions advancing legal education, the legal profession, and access to justice in India.[10][11][12]
