Aimee Suzanne La Joie is an American actress, photographer, videographer and model best known for the viral video The Film Crew and parodies of Home Town, MasterChef, Queer Eye, and Say Yes To The Dress. She stars in the films Hemet, or the Landlady Don't Drink Tea (2023) and Freedom, Wisconsin (2023), and appears in the films Buy Roses for Me (2019), Perfect People (2017), and Refuge (2017).

La Joie made guest appearances at Location Managers Guild Awards, St. John's International Women's Film Festival and her work screened at the 13th Oceanside International Film Festival. She was nominated for acting at GI Film Festival San Diego and ensemble at Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Personal life edit

La Joie grew up in Bonsall, California[7] and began acting while attending high school in Fallbrook.[1] In 2012, she received a bachelor's degree in film studies at University of California Berkeley before returning to San Diego County[2][8] to settle in Poway.[1]

La Joie is an actress, photographer, videographer[2] and model.[9] She created a YouTube web series called The Bumble Bums[1][10] and was nominated for Best Actress at the 2017 GI Film Festival San Diego for her performance in the film Refuge.[11]

2020: The Film Crew edit

In early August,[3] La Joie was inspired by the Mr. Blue Sky trend of people in everyday situations on TikTok. She based her version on her own film set experience and The Film Crew went viral, prompting La Joie to make more.[2] Cinemanía wrote that they hope La Joie's videos help her career and bring more attention to women working on and off camera in the film industry.[4] John Plunkett at The Poke said her "one-woman depiction of a film crew is simply brilliant."[3] Her videos[2][12][13] were included in Make it Work, a women in film special that aired on The CW,[14] and were listed on Ad Age's "The Top 5 Creative Brand Ideas You Need to Know About Right Now: August 7, 2020."[15] In September, La Joie was the subject for a social distance toast at Women in Film Cincinnati.[16]

2021–present: edit

In 2021, La Joie made a guest appearance at the Location Managers Guild Awards[17][18] and was featured in Scene and Heard at St. John's International Women's Film Festival.[19] She talked about her desire to join Saturday Night Live[20] and expressed that she began creating her own content because she didn't get results from working on the projects of others.[21]

In 2023, La Joie starred in the films Freedom, Wisconsin,[1][6] Hemet, or the Landlady Don't Drink Tea,[1][5] and started doing parody videos of Say Yes to the Dress.[22]
