In August 2016, his request to change sports citizenship from Danish to Bosnian was approved by FIFA.[16] Subsequently, he received his first senior call-up in March 2017, for a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar and a friendly game against Albania.[17] He debuted against the latter on 28 March.[18]

On 7 October, in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Belgium, Đumić scored his first senior international goal.[19]
