A to-do-list as it relates to Sonnetology...

edit

TO DO: eventually create article for "Sonneteer" (a poet who composes sonnets), create "Category:Sonneteers" and add many poets, and build a manual list of prominent sonneteers @ List of sonneteers (sub-category of "Category:Lists of poets"). --WassermannNYC 13:11, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, create "Category:Sonnets". --WassermannNYC 13:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Here’s a suggestion. If you really must create a page on ‘sonneteers’, I suggest that you list them alphabetically, in surname order, for ease of reference.

I've been fixing the references so that they're consistently arranged alphabetically by last name. Brandon Christopher 17:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Definition (and Ezra Pound)

edit

I added a definition of this category to the top of the category page and removed Ezra Pound based on that definition. Any western poet after Shakespeare at one point in their life tried their hand at writing sonnets, and to include all of them makes this category too broad.--Prosfilaes 17:19, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You wrote: "Any western poet after Shakespeare at one point in their life tried their hand at writing sonnets.." -- that is a totaly false assertion. The sonnet has fallen in to disuse during certain points in history, while in modern times MANY poets wrote "Modernist" or "Postmodernist" (more abstract) poetry and rejected most if not all of the traditional poetic forms (such as the sonnet, sestina, etc). This category is far from being "too broad" as you say; it is actually an attempt to narrow down poets by "type of poet" instead of tagging them with the other categories which are themselves far too broad (just look at how many people are in Category:American poets. --WassermannNYC 20:42, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Writing a poem doesn't get you into American poets; writing a sonnet shouldn't get you into Sonneteers.--Prosfilaes 13:25, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

.hi. Sonneteers are poets who compose sonnets, a 14 line poem .bye.
