Introduce "QHR in LGA" subcategories? edit

Given there are 1700 QHR sites for which there are already about 1000 articles, I am starting to think that this category is becoming unmanageable. I would like to suggest making the main category diffusing into subcategories, one for each local government area. As local government areas are precisely bounded, its straightforward to decide which subcategory applies. Also we have categories for local government heritage registers too, which usually include the QHR entries for their LGA as a subset, so this set of LGA subcategories will avoid unnecessary duplication (once in the QHR category tree and once in the LGA local heritage register tree). In western australian project we have regional as well as LGA separations for large article collections - but as you say the lga is well defined, I think you have answered your own questions - lga sub category sounds vbest well to go JarrahTree 05:07, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Other categories relevant to Queensland heritage places edit

If a heritage place in Queensland is listed on a different heritage register, then it should not appear in this category but in a category for that other heritage register. In particular in Queensland, every local government authority maintains a local heritage register; you can find their categories listed at Category: Local heritage registers in Queensland.

A useful template edit

There is a citation template for citations to the Queensland Heritage Register called Template:Cite QHR that makes it easier to cite entries in the online database of the Queensland Heritage Register. Also, as the Qld Govt often reorganises its department structure, the URL for this online database changes to reflect different department domain names. By using this citation template, a single edit to the template can update the URL for the many citations to the Queensland Heritage Register. Not using this template means dead links will be created when the Qld Govt changes the URL.

Then have a look at Wikimedia Commons. There are a large selection of historic photos from the State Library of Queensland and the Queensland State Archives as well as many contemporary photos contributed by Wikipedians.
