I know this may look like a goofy category, but if there are categories for chess I think there should be one for draughts. I know draughts is maybe not as respectable, but it does have a long history. Checkers sites cite Benjamin Franklin, Edgar Allan Poe, Ulysses Grant, John Paterson, Garibaldi, Thomas Edison, Harry Houdini, Will Rogers and others as fond of the game. Samuel Johnson supposedly considered it the best pastime. stated Legend states the Queen of Madagascar played a form of draughts to keep her sharp. (Granted the obvious question is "which queen of Madagascar?", and sadly I don't remember)I'm hoping in time more players bios are listed here. And to help that out.

Not so silly after all as it is in other Wikipedias. The Dutch category for "draughts players" has two subcats and seven names in all. I wonder if it's older and if so by how much?--T. Anthony 00:58, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Dutch version goes back to 2004, but dang check out the Estonian or Eesti one! I mean their category for "Kabe" players is comparatively huge. It looks to have 33 articles and also dates to 2004.--T. Anthony 01:03, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
A bunch of computer programs wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but beggars can't be choosers.--T. Anthony 04:17, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
