Hi guys, there was recently a failed military coup in Papua New Guinea and I noticed its not on here. Anyone care to take the time and add it? (unsigned comment by unregistered user 124.189.192.240)
- You're referring to the 2011–2012 Papua New Guinean constitutional crisis. It's questionable whether it may be considered a "coup". There was a brief mutiny, but for the most part it's a constitutional disagreement between two men who both claim to be the legitimate Prime Minister. I would not call it a "failed military coup", not least because there was definitely no coup by the military; there was an attempt by a retired colonel and a handful of soldiers to enforce a court ruling by attempting to take hostage the head of the military.
