Bobby Sheng (Chinese: 盛保熙; pinyin: Sheng Bao Xi; born April 1972) is a Taiwanese-American Businessman, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Record producer, and Film producer. He is the founder, president and CEO of Bora Pharmaceuticals 保瑞藥業,[1] Taiwan's largest pharmaceutical company by volume.[2]

Bobby Sheng

Sheng grew up in Orange County, California and went to high school in Irvine, California. He began his business career when he was 14, selling candy to other students at his school. Sheng graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a BS in Economics.[3] Around the same time, Sheng's father, who owned Hoan Pharmaceuticals, fell ill, leaving him and his sister to run the company as recent graduates. As he familiarized himself with the CEO position at the family company, Sheng started seven companies in his time in Taiwan, including the largest distributor of Kiehl's outside of the United States.[4] Sheng also became co-founder of MACHI Entertainment in this time, and started producing films such as Smother and Minotaur.[5][6][7]

In 2007, Sheng established Bora Pharmaceuticals as a separate entity from Hoan Pharmaceuticals. As Hoan Pharmaceuticals focused more on in-licensing and distribution in Taiwan, Bora Pharmaceuticals focused on drug development and production for international markets. They have since then supplied drugs for over 100 countries and established facilities in Zhunan, Tainan, Taoyuan, Zhongli, Zhubei, and Mississauga.[8] Since April 2017, Bora Pharmaceuticals has been a publicly traded company on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.[9] They have since then received awards such as Best Companies to Work For in Taiwan in 2019 from HR Asia, and Outstanding Company of the Year in 2023 from Bio-Asia Taiwan.[10]

From 2020 to 2023, Sheng served as the president of the Berkeley Club of Taiwan.[11]

In 2020, Sheng received the CEO of the Year at the CPhl Awards.[12]
