The official announcement for Bob Biswas was made by Red Chillies Entertainment on 25 November 2019, with Abhishek Bachchan playing Biswas and the film serving as spin-off to the 2012 thriller Kahaani.[2] It is produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma via Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment alongside Sujoy Ghosh's Bound Script Production, and directed by debutante Diya Annapurna Ghosh.[3] In January 2020, the makers roped in Chitrangada Singh as the leading actress.[4] The film went on floors on 24 January 2020.[5] The first schedule wrapped on 18 February 2020[6]
