Ashar Rural District (Persian: دهستان آشار)[3] is in Ashar District of Mehrestan County, Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran.[4] It is administered from the city of Ashar.[5]

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 7,884 in 1,552 households, when it was a part of Sarbaz County.[6] There were 12,137 inhabitants in 2,727 households at the following census of 2011,[7] by which time the district had been separated from the county to become a part of the newly established Zaboli County[4] (renamed Mehrestan County).[8] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 10,130 in 2,443 households. The most populous of its 33 villages was Ashar (now a city),[9] with 3,786 people.[2]
