Early life and career

edit

Kulja was born in Nyíregyháza in 1989.[3] His mother is a psychiatrist and another family member is a veterinarian, leading him to assist in veterinary surgeries and deciding to become a surgeon.[4] He researched depression at Semmelweis University, graduating in 2016, but left the field as he preferred to instead perform manual tasks.[4] Aiming to share healthcare information with a wide audience, he posted his first YouTube video in 2019, and his first TikTok video in 2021.[4] He began teaching at Semmelweis University in 2022.[4]

On 6 April 2024, Kulja attended a demonstration in Kossuth Square organized by Péter Magyar, and became committed to the Tisza Party.[5] He left his job as a surgical trainee at two Budapest hospitals the same month, since his employment limited his ability to speak openly about Hungarian healthcare.[2]
