Amala Shaji is a Malayalam model,[1] musical artist and Internet celebrity (social media personality).[2] She gained prominence through social media platforms, and gained popularity on the platforms[3] Instagram, TikTok, Youtube and Facebook.[4][5] She was one of the rising TikTok stars in India, with over 4.1 million followers in Instagram and over 4 million followers in TikTok and majority (90%) of followers are from Tamil Nadu. Criticism arose over Amala Shaji's promotion of a money-doubling scheme on Instagram.[7] The influencer encouraged followers to message her friends account, claiming to have personally profited from sending money there with the promise of a high return. Critics allege this promotion amounted to a scam.[8][9]
