Career

2018–2020: Early auditions, Star Hunt Academy trainee

edit

Prior to becoming a Star Hunt Academy (SHA) trainee, Aiah attended two auditions in Cebu. In 2018, she auditioned for Pinoy Big Brother: Otso and advanced to the third round of the audition process but did not secure a spot as a housemate. Following her experience with PBB Otso, she auditioned for the 2022 TV series Darna, encouraged by her modeling agency, but did not get the role.[5] During her appearance on the Bisayan talk show Kuan on One, she recalled that her manager mentioned their aim was not necessarily to get the role but to be noticed by the Star Hunt staff.[6]

A few months after her audition, Aiah received a call inviting her to Manila to join a girl group. She accepted the invitation and became the last to join Star Hunt Academy as a trainee, joining the other trainees three months after training began.[5] During her training, Aiah developed her vocal and dance skills with the help of Filipino voice coaches Kitchy Molina and Anna Graham, and dance coaches Mickey Perz and Matthew Almodovar. She also underwent intensive Korean system training with MU Doctor Academy, where she learned Korean practices and disciplines in singing and dancing.[7]

In 2019, Aiah along with her fellow trainees participated in the National Youth Commission's "FitFil Youth Against Drugs" campaign, where they were proclaimed as one of the youth ambassadors.[8] They were also invited to perform at the thanksgiving dinner for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.[9]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aiah continued her training in quarantine with her co-trainees inside Camp Star Hunt to ensure their safety. They were also enrolled in online schooling to continue their studies while on camp.[7] On October 10, 2020, she was one of the last eight members of the SHA Girl Trainees to graduate from the academy and was officially announced as a member of an idol group.[10]

2020–2022: Pre-debut activities, debut with "Born to Win"

edit

In November 2020, Aiah officially became a member of the Filipino girl group Bini, after releasing their pre-debut single "Da Coconut Nut", an electropop remake of national artist Ryan Cayabyab's popular novelty song with the same name.[11] They performed the single on It's Showtime on November 21, which went viral and received positive reception.[12]

On December 4, Aiah and her fellow Bini members signed a contract with Star Magic.[13]

On June 4, 2021, the group released their debut single "Born to Win" and officially made their debut on June 11 during the two part event Bini: The Launch.[14]

Following the release of their debut single, Bini released their third official single entitled "Kapit Lang" (Hold On) on September 10.[15] The song was co-written by Aiah, who wrote the rap verse of the song.[16]
