Then came three contradictory years, since Ríos reached the final in the 1995, 1996 and 1997 editions but did not fall in all of them. First against the Czech Slava Dosedel, then with the Argentine Hernán Gumy and later with the irregular Spanish Julián Alonso, in a match to be forgotten and which earned the national player strong criticism.
