I am feeling rather grumpy this evening, so my reply may be less than polite: I think that by threatening to delete an article over a few words that cast a tone slightly out of bounds, means you are drunk with the power of Wikipedia.

That may or may not imply an absence of good faith. The same may be said for threatening to delete an article.

You wrote: this article is written in a way that 1) expresses a non-neutral point of view and 2) is not encyclopedic in tone. The POV problems are so blatant that the article may face deletion if it is not immediately improved. "Wrongly siezed" is not subjective description of this case.

1) A Supreme Court decision that an ex post facto law was unconstitutional makes actions taken under that law "Wrong."

2) When the evidence is so clear that a trial court declares that the government was wrong WITHOUT A TRIAL, that too seems fairly clear cut. "Wrong."

3) There is no ongoing controversy, the matter is settled. The government was wrong on the face of it. The courts have said the government was wrong.

Nevertheless I have removed the word "wrongly" from the opening paragraph. Please remove the demand for citations, or use your superior skills to create pointers to the external links already provided.

The only other non-neutral phraseology I can see is calling the federal regulatory body an 8-Trillion Pound Gorilla. A metaphor to be sure, but do you really think it inaccurate?

FWIW, despite the tone of these words, I'm a fiscal conservative. The government is wrong sometimes, and this is one of those times. This story is very much in context the week that Congress is voting on a 0.7 Trillion dollar bail out of the thrift industry, so let us try to find a way to keep it in Wikipedia, not kill it.

Hi again. If I can help in getting you materials to make Steve Wyrick's description more accurate, please let me know. Here are a couple of facts: Steve appeared on Vh1's Celebracadabra in March and April of 2008. The final two episodes were shot in the Steve Wyrick Theatre. Steve appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman on May 8, 2008 and the episode re-aired on July 10, 2008. He performed the "Blades of Death Challenge" and other guests on that episode included Paris Hilton and Panic at the Disco. TLC's American Chopper episode, airing October 9, features Steve Wyrick. The SW-1000 was built to commemorate his 1000th show at the Steve Wyrick Theatre in Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood (formerly Desert Passage at Aladdin). His namesake theatre, The Steve Wyrick Theatre opened January 27, 2007.

Dear Reallyhick,

I'm happy to discuss this content. I appreciate that what I've posted could be viewed as COI.

So: without special pleading, the facts are these.

There is nothing particularly controversial within the field that is posted here.

We're a university research group with a particular history, one that was/is reasonably interesting. We could get other linguists to 'big us up', but the list of our ex-associates is pretty long.

Rather than do that I thought it would be more straightforward to concentrate on matters of history and current fact. If you think that I've strayed over to self-publicity in some areas, do let me know.

Actually, that is incorrect. Logility is in fact a NASDAQ-listed company (LGTY), as is its parent company, American Software (AMSWA). So both companies should be indexed by Wikipedia. I have since modified the content so that the text meets Wikipedia standards concerning advertising. As for copyright violations, text has been modified.

Trying to Figure Out

Why you would care if an indie writer and filmmaker has a page on wikipedia or not?

Aren't there more important things in the world for you to be fretting over and fighting? Not meaning any malicious intent or to be impolite but I'm just trying to understand the mind of a person who spends their time flagging other people's articles on wikipedia.

Also, it's obvious that the person who posted the article on that writer chick doesn't know how to use wikipedia. Why wouldn't you help her and tell her ways to edit the article to keep it as opposed to just rushing to get it erased from the site? Vancouver Vets Ride

Hello Realkyhick, I think you have recently deleted Vancouver Vets Ride which I created last night. I would like to give some info about it. It is a very popular bike ride, run for last 25 years in the Vancouver area. It is similar to the Toronto Donut Ride which is on Wiki. People from Toronto (Toronto Donut Ride) know about Vancouver Vets Ride and they are wondering why there is no info on Wiki on it. That is why I wanted to write about it. It is a very well know ride and all serious cyclists in Vancouver area know about it. I created the page with intend of expanding it. Speedy deletion

I notice that you tagged the page Image:Atnrrlogo.gif for speedy deletion with the reason "image or other media file that is a redundant copy, in the same file format, and at the same or lower quality/resolution, of Image:atnrrlogo.png, which is on Wikipedia, and all inward links have been updated". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because the images are not in the same file format. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:IFD process. Thanks! Charlie is a world-famous jazz teacher and has taught many famous jazz players. Terms used in jazz education are terms he created. Hi, I was in the process of creating a new article. As I am new to the site, I was unsure of how to edit and save the articles. Upon reading your criteria, I realized that I did not put the underconstruction tag, which should have been done. I wanted to create a page such as Gemstone IV for this game. I am friends with the owner, and he has given me permission to make a page, and I have all the resources needed for the article. I am not the company and they do not pay me in anyway. Last November is a notable band. There is no reason to delete this article. They are currently nominated "Top 40 Group of the Year" by New Music Weekly, a very notable Radio charting magazine. Their current single is at number 63 on the top 100 chart for NMW as well.

They have worked with notable producers, engineers, and mixers such as Steven Haigler (a platinum selling producer who has worked with fuel, oleander, brand new) Rodney Mills (produced Lynrd Skynrd)

Sunday Night Sports Wrap

I am a little confused because i thought wikapedia was around so that people could post things where they couldn't usually post. I am a student at dean college and when i was told of the page for the sports wrap i thought it was cool. I have listened to every show, and know about many parents that do and that call in. To say that because the links have nothing to do with the website/article you should shut is wrong. the radio station did have a website but because of the college technology they could no longer keep it. There were links that did bring you to the school station web page, and by clicking on that you know it exists. Your comments about TRGA being about selling an organization are not valid. You cannot even purchase anything from their site. A professional event is being played next week in Las Vegas by these rules. These rule are an alternative to the USGA rules that have been destroying golf with technology. Several players were sent this text to post, and I had a few moment to do it tonight.

The TRGA is completely objective and well written. Your quick to jump to conclusions. I see you do this with other peoples sites as well.

Restriction? Absolutely not! There is no ownership of Wikipedia articles. No person can dictate who edits an article (except in the case of bans or blocks), and no person can prevent any information that satisfies Wikipedia's guidelines from being added to an article. Erroneous additions to that article can be handled like erroneous additions to every article on Wikipedia: vigilance, reversions, explanations in edit summaries and on article and user talk pages, warnings where necessary to people committing outright vandalism. Nothing can be prevented (except further damage by people who have committed enough infractions to be blocked or the occasional protection of an article that is especially subject to vandalism). It has to be fixed after the fact. Non-encyclopedic content? Theological dispute? Personal research?

In my opinion, you are not being consistent in your evaluation. What is expressed in the article "The Masculine Gender ...," though perhaps inferior in writing style to the article "Comma Johanneum," from which it is linked, is no more non-encyclopedic in content and no more a theological dispute and no more personal research than what is expressed in the article "Comma Johanneum."

In both articles, the subject is the Johannine Comma. In both articles, there is disagreement on whether or not the Comma belongs in the text. In both articles, different sources expressing the various views on the subject are cited. In neither article is the author's personal opinion stated. None of the the three views presented in the article "The Masculine Gender ..." is the author's personal invention. To the contrary, those are in fact the three views that have been held by various people regarding this subject, as confirmed by the two cited sources. That is in fact what is out there.

So what's all this talk about "non-encyclopedic content" and "theological dispute" and "personal research?" If those accusations are true of the article "The Masculine Gender ...," then they are also true of the article "Comma Johanneum." Conversely, if they are not true of the article "Comma Johanneum," then neither are true of the article "The Masculine Gender ...." In applying these accusations to the one article but not to the other, you are not being consistent in your evaluation and you are showing personal prejudice. I submit that the article in question demonstrates more neutrality than do the ones who are making these accusations against it.

As for the writing style, maybe the article is inferior in style. Perhaps YOU should fix it instead of complaining about it and asking for its deletion. I myself don't know how to write it better than it is written. However, the information presented in the article is valid information, and it is NOT personal research, and it IS pertinent to the information presented in the the article "Comma Johanneum," and it DOES cite two sources (Dr. Wallace and Dr. Hills; if you click the links ["pages 331-332" and "chapter 8" in the text of the article], you can read what they say about it yourself) that attest to the three views which have been held by various people regarding this subject, which are explained in the article in question.

Although the one recent one was legit the others were me being pissed off. Me and a few of my friends have made attempts to add legitimate articles, mainly in the aquarium and snowboarding hobbies. Most were deleted within several minutes for no apparent reason other than their claiming to be no outside links, when most had at least 2 or 3. That may or may not imply an absence of good faith. The same may be said for threatening to delete an article.

"Wrongly siezed" is not subjective description of this case.

1) A Supreme Court decision that an ex post facto law was unconstitutional makes actions taken under that law "Wrong."

2) When the evidence is so clear that a trial court declares that the government was wrong WITHOUT A TRIAL, that too seems fairly clear cut. "Wrong."

3) There is no ongoing controversy, the matter is settled. The government was wrong on the face of it. The courts have said the government was wrong.

Nevertheless I have removed the word "wrongly" from the opening paragraph. Please remove the demand for citations, or use your superior skills to create pointers to the external links already provided.

The only other non-neutral phraseology I can see is calling the federal regulatory body an 8-Trillion Pound Gorilla. A metaphor to be sure, but do you really think it inaccurate?

FWIW, despite the tone of these words, I'm a fiscal conservative. The government is wrong sometimes, and this is one of those times. This story is very much in context the week that Congress is voting on a 0.7 Trillion dollar bail out of the thrift industry, so let us try to find a way to keep it in Wikipedia, not kill it.

Here are a couple of facts: Steve appeared on Vh1's Celebracadabra in March and April of 2008. The final two episodes were shot in the Steve Wyrick Theatre. Steve appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman on May 8, 2008 and the episode re-aired on July 10, 2008. He performed the "Blades of Death Challenge" and other guests on that episode included Paris Hilton and Panic at the Disco. TLC's American Chopper episode, airing October 9, features Steve Wyrick. The SW-1000 was built to commemorate his 1000th show at the Steve Wyrick Theatre in Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood (formerly Desert Passage at Aladdin). His namesake theatre, The Steve Wyrick Theatre opened January 27, 2007.

I'm happy to discuss this content. I appreciate that what I've posted could be viewed as COI.

So: without special pleading, the facts are these.

There is nothing particularly controversial within the field that is posted here.

We're a university research group with a particular history, one that was/is reasonably interesting. We could get other linguists to 'big us up', but the list of our ex-associates is pretty long.

Rather than do that I thought it would be more straightforward to concentrate on matters of history and current fact. If you think that I've strayed over to self-publicity in some areas, do let me know.

Actually, that is incorrect. Logility is in fact a NASDAQ-listed company (LGTY), as is its parent company, American Software (AMSWA). So both companies should be indexed by Wikipedia. Trying to Figure Out

Why you would care if an indie writer and filmmaker has a page on wikipedia or not?

Aren't there more important things in the world for you to be fretting over and fighting? Not meaning any malicious intent or to be impolite but I'm just trying to understand the mind of a person who spends their time flagging other people's articles on wikipedia.

Also, it's obvious that the person who posted the article on that writer chick doesn't know how to use wikipedia. Why wouldn't you help her and tell her ways to edit the article to keep it as opposed to just rushing to get it erased from the site? Vancouver Vets Ride

Hello Realkyhick, I think you have recently deleted Vancouver Vets Ride which I created last night. I would like to give some info about it. It is a very popular bike ride, run for last 25 years in the Vancouver area. It is similar to the Toronto Donut Ride which is on Wiki. People from Toronto (Toronto Donut Ride) know about Vancouver Vets Ride and they are wondering why there is no info on Wiki on it. That is why I wanted to write about it. It is a very well know ride and all serious cyclists in Vancouver area know about it. I created the page with intend of expanding it. I notice that you tagged the page Image:Atnrrlogo.gif for speedy deletion with the reason "image or other media file that is a redundant copy, in the same file format, and at the same or lower quality/resolution, of Image:atnrrlogo.png, which is on Wikipedia, and all inward links have been updated". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because the images are not in the same file format. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:IFD process. Thanks!
