Speedy deletion of Vancouver Vets Ride edit

A tag has been placed on Vancouver Vets Ride requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 04:55, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I did not actually delete the article. I merely marked it for possible deletion, bringing it to the attention of an administrator who actually makes the decision to delete or let it stay. As to the merits of the article, it was deleted primarily because it appeared to be an informal event with no evidence of notability, such as media coverage or recognition from an independent, reliable source. Moreover, existence of a similar article does not justify keeping this one. The Toronto article has some issues of its own, but one thing that saves it is a reference to an article in the Globe and Mail. That's the sort of thing your article needs. Please read this article on how to include references in articles you write. Because this article was speedy-deleted, you are welcome to try again with a revised article, but be advised that if you do not provide more evidence of notability, the article will likely be deleted once again. There's a strong chance that this event simply does not meet our notability standards at all, no matter what. The best-written article in the world won't help if the subject isn't notable.- Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:51, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the advice. I will try to collect some more info like press article etc. before trying again.--GSVANCOUVER (talk) 18:03, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
