Stifle

I am a Wikipedia administrator. I am no longer an OTRS member.

I am tired of the ongoing levels of drama on Wikipedia.

Current activities

Deletion queue, new pages, new images, and new images added by newbies, my deletion log, /Non-free audit workspace, another useful category, Category:Fair use tag needs updating; /I need to DRV these

Ireland

I speak Irish and accept translation requests to and from Irish Wikimedia projects. My userboxes show the other languages I speak. See /Translation queue for translations. However I don't live in Ireland (currently reside in London, UK).

Deletion review principles

When considering whether to overturn a deletion or discussion closure at Wikipedia:Deletion review, I apply the Wednesbury test. In short, that is:

  • Did the administrator* give weight to something to which he shouldn't have given weight?
  • Did the administrator omit to give weight to something to which he should have?
  • Did the administrator arrive at a decision so irrational that no reasonable administrator could have arrived at it?

*I am assuming for simplicity the person who deleted the page or closed the discussion is an administrator, although I am sure there is some corner case by which a non-administrator might be involved. The masculine should be construed as referring to both genders.

When the answer is no to all three, I will endorse the deletion.

I sometimes ask a follow-up question on a certain matter to the DRV nominator. When such a question is unanswered I will assume that the nominator has abandoned his request and will endorse the outcome by default.
