This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.
The next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory or otherwise controversial content into an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to Rachel Starr, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 13:24, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Rachel Starr. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 13:24, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

My reverts are explained on its talkpage. You have incorrectly templated me as I am a regular contributing editor. As for the 3RR, I have made only two reverts and both to revert errors caused by other editors such as yourself. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Certainly - thanks for letting me know. I'll keep an eye on this in that quarter. Have fun with the mechanic - hope it's nothing too serious and unfixable. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:23, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

  • It has a blown gasket. Hopefully the head is not warped. If it is that could set me back another $500. Then, he recommended changing out the timing chain since it will be exposed. The truck is 16 years old and I am the second owner who doubled its mileage to 200,000 in 13 years. It was unfortunately just about the time for all this to happen. I had to wait until the end of June to make sure I have enough money in reserve to cover the outlay. ----moreno oso (talk) 14:33, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
I thought we'd established he's always around? At least, that was the impression I got the last time I watched Diamonds Are Forever. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:26, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
He lays one finger on that kitty and he will regret it! ----moreno oso (talk) 14:33, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
On cars: I know the feeling. I used to have a wonderful Subaru Legacy station wagon, about 18 years old, that ran like a charm. One day someone smacked me coming out of a side street and "totaled" the car. One little dent, but insurance said at that point that it would cost more to fix than to get rid of.
On cats: he's not the only one. I have raging cat allergies. Which is why I would be an ineffective secret agent, I guess - all you have to do is throw one at me and I'm disabled for at least ten minutes. So I suppose I would regret laying a finger on the kitty, too. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:48, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Speaking of smacking, about a year ago a punk kid and his friend were playing with a basketball by my truck outside my bearcave. The kid bounced the ball off the camper shell window which cracked it. I heard the noise, came outside and asked the kid why he did that. His dad was outside too, came up and started yelling at me. I went toe-to-toe with him (literally and figuratively) and pointed out what his kid did. I asked if he was going to pay for it. He said no and huffed off. I called my insurance company because I'm fully covered. They said to call the sheriff and have a report filed. Just so happened that a car was down the block (my neighborhood has gone to the pits because of the recession with realtors renting to low-lives who basically are paying the full mortgage payment and then some in some cases - rent =$900; mortgage =$600). The sheriff knocked at my door; we went to my vehicle; I pointed at the kid with the ball two houses down and said the dad had confronted me with my insurance company saying to file the report. The sheriff went to the dad and they went to the kid. Needless to say that the broken shield with basketball prints was replaced and paid for by the other dad.
As for cats, in real life I am a sucker for kids, cats and comic strips. I am a kid at heart and many of the charities I favor deal with children. I need to get a panda suit pic that I can put up when I am doing one of my events.
As for my luck, it's holding true. We had a low pass through and it's raining. I have to ride my bike about two miles to catch a bus back to where I live. The mechanic is optimistic he can get it done by next Friday but with the Fourth of July coming up, I am doubtful. A friend, who also is a mechanic, thinks the head warped and that would hold true to my recent luck. An ex-miss bear, who was Mrs. Right, has slipped away. The rib is still on the mend but about 11 days ago I pulled it when I helped put away chairs after an event. I was the only tuxed guy to take off his jacket and tie to help the worker bees. I could go but I don't have enough cheap gin to cover going ugly early. ----moreno oso (talk) 15:17, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Almost forgot: the BOT is the important thing. If you check his talkpage, this is the third or fourth time it's tagged him in error. It's way too sensitive to Stub classed articles. ----moreno oso (talk) 15:23, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
I know - it used to catch me all the time, too. I'll have a look at that and at the other thing you mentioned.
Those kids sound like some of the ones that live down the street from me; they love to play in the street, and I've seen some of them run out to play chicken with cars that are making the turn at the end of the court. One of these days one of them's going to catch me coming home from the office, and I just hope I have enough presence of mind to stop the car right there and demand to know where his mother is. 'Course, given that I've seen some of these kids playing chicken with their own parents, I'm not holding my breath. At least you got the father to pay out. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:52, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
That kid and his friend are thugs in the making thereof. I predict they will wear shirts with numbers on them if they don't get killed first. About six months ago, an innocent 15 y.o. boy was shot and killed less than .2 miles down my street walking home from the 7-11. It made me rethink my lifestyle. I love walking down the block to go that store plus the Subway sandwich shop. In fact, now that my truck will be gone for a week, the 7-11 is going to be my emergency restock store. I loaded up my fridge and pantry yesterday but know I will be short on fresh food items by Wednesday at the latest. Bread and milk (plus honey) will need replacements. There is a nice family who moved in to the house next store. The father doesn't speak English so I talk to him in Spanish when I see him. I think it's put him at ease as I told about which neighbors to watch out for. We have two busybodys, who are great for the thugs, but indiscrimately turn in everyone. To get to the heart, he has a small daughter who is very friendly, cute and sweet. But, she speaks to strangers and that could her into problems. Plus she rides her bike in the alleyway and coming out of the garage, my view is obscured until I am almost all the way out. Then she will dart in and out along the walkways. Still, she's a good girl at heart and I told her Dad that I caught one of the busybodies grilling her in Spanish. I was shocked because even I did not know that lady spoke Spanish. As soon as the busybody saw my approach, she broke off their conversation. I overhead her telling the daughter she needed to wear better shoes and to keep them laced up. I would not put it past her to turn in the family. The other busybody already has because the family has four cars. While there is no minimum, they must be moved daily around the street due to posted signs. Both these busybodys take numbers and call them in. The second one did this already and the Dad warned me about her. We shared notes and he even recently invited me to a family barbecue. ----moreno oso (talk) 16:06, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Carlos Monsiváis

Extended content

Hi Morenooso, I recently eliminated the Political Involvement section in Monsiváis's article because it really was just a plug that appears in numerous articles in Wikipedia, and with minor relevance to Monsiváis. I would recommend moving the Carlos_Monsiváis#Awards and Carlos_Monsiváis#Later_life_and_death sections up higher in the article, before the bibliography. Thanks!--Lawrlafo (talk) 22:04, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

I feel differently. The way I am editting the article is standard. ----moreno oso (talk) 22:07, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for deleting after i reworked it. I have been on this article for a while. I reviewed back when and decided he didn't have many inline citations and should stay. ----moreno oso (talk) 22:12, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
I didn't read the whole notice atop the article, so I made a couple of minor edits. Hope you're forgiving! I saw the link to the article here and got curious, noticed a few small things, and fixed them (I hope). SamEV (talk) 04:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Luckily, I had dropped out to look at Adventura. Normally, it's not a good idea to edit an "In use" article. Lots of times when I'm doing translations like this, I may be "grooming"/building citations, checking wikilinks, etc. Edit conflicts are not good or welcome especially if I doing a wireless connection as the system (either Wikipedia or mine - I tend to believe Wikipedia and I can stay in contact with Yahoo and update manually/automatically without loss of data sessions). I think other users would feel the same. ----moreno oso (talk) 14:37, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Got it.
Add content? Mm, I don't know about that. For the very most part I copyedit and undo vandalism. I'll copyedit the article, though; in the process, I might make some additions, but I can't promise it. I'll keep it watchlisted to help you guard it against vandalism, too.
Did you really mean ([1]) "It's about 200k above the minimum", or 20k? SamEV (talk) 19:54, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. It's about 200kb which is pretty close. ----moreno oso (talk) 19:58, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
OK. No probs. SamEV (talk) 21:40, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Nah, no need, dude. I don't know to what DYK you're referring, even after looking at some of your contribs, but thanks nonetheless. And I'm not done with the Monsiváis article yet.
BTW, I do agree with Lawrlafo about C&P'ing the same content between articles. So next time I edit the Monsiváis article, perhaps today, I'll try to rewrite that paragraph to some extent. SamEV (talk) 13:05, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
A rewrite is fine. He wants all-out exclusion. Prior to his death, the article had few if any citations. When I added the citation about the museum he funded a month ago, I verified all the citations that were present and also did some general cleanup. In a nutshell, that section represents to a large degree who the man was. He was an activist who lent his name to the causes he believed in. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:20, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
I owe you an apology. Despite your mentions of DYK, I never got the urgency! I'd never participated in the DYK process, so I wish you'd grabbed me by the shoulder and said, "There's this thing we have called 'Did You Know?', have you heard of it? I'd have said "Yes". Then you'd have said, "Well, I'm nominating the Monsiváis article for that and need to improve it over the next few days." If you'd done that, I'd have helped out more, or at least tried to. I sincerely say that I don't deserve to share DYK credit, since I neither created nor expanded the article. Instead of urgency, I approached the improvement of the Monsiváis article just like I approach everything else here: as a long-term project, because I didn't know any better!
For future reference, let me tell you that other than the core policies and guidelines and some essays, I've been incredibly disinterested in learning about the workings of WP in my 6 years here. Even ANI is a rather unfamiliar place for me. (A few users have dragged me there a few times [2 asked me to comment on their behalf, and 2 have frivolously reported me 4 times between them], but that's it.) I've participated in some AfDs, filed an RFCU and an SPI, posted a question on the village pump once (and nearly paid with my life for it!)... But my attention has been overwhelmingly just on the articles and their talk pages. I hope to slowly learn more about the inner workings, the procedures, and so on of WP from now on.
So I hope you've learned your lesson and will be more explicit next time! SamEV (talk) 00:09, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

We all have different angles to walk down Wikipedia. Sometimes we're riding high; other times we're getting our teeth kicked in. I know what you're saying. Depending on the POV, some editors will say we're hotheads while others would say we're hard workers. Then, there's the stuff no body really sees. Hang in there and maybe the DYK will motivate you. I feel you deserve it because of the work you did. ----moreno oso (talk) 00:16, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

OK, I'll keep it!
I'm going to create a user subpage for the DYK template, the barnstar you gave me, and another (or two?) I received. Or maybe I'll put them in a section on the talk page.
I don't visit the main page often, but I did many minutes ago, and it was really cool seeing "Carlos Monsiváis" there. SamEV (talk) 00:34, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Mammary intercourse

Hi. About my edit at Mammary intercourse [5], i simply add the english literally trasnlation of the italian word "spagnola", that is the italian female adjective for "spanish" (with the meaning of "related to Spain") --Yoggysot (talk) 03:02, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Greetings Morenooso - thanks for note on my talk page. I was reading the pages you mention right while you were posting there. How goes it with the article itself? It might just scrape though notability by its own merit, but if you want to PROD it, I don't have any objections. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 23:31, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to CSD it for blatant advertising. It's no improvement. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:40, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
If it can pass notability as a BLP, not sure that as it stands it is blatant advertising. I really reckon PROD is better for such cases. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 23:45, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Then, let's welcome them into the fold. I'm off the article. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:49, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I fully agree with you regarding COI in general, but I fail to see anything in the article as it stands that can be considered a violation of NPOV. It's pretty minimalist, but maybe it's staring me in the face and if so, please point it out to me. --Technopat (talk) 00:09, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: article expansion

Extended content

I added a few more statements to the Manuel Lara Rodríguez article. Will add more, but not this evening. I have 100s of pages on my watchlist that I haven't visited yet today. SamEV (talk) 02:05, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

The clock starts to tick today from your first edit towards expansion. The article's size 820 B and about 139 words. Conservatively, another 140 words should be the 5x expansion. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:14, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
1002 B. Needs another 600 B. ----moreno oso (talk) 03:02, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
'k. I will try to finish it by this evening. SamEV (talk) 16:46, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
He hid out for 30 days which is cited in one of the articles. According to the other mayor, Lara did not request protection and was living in the second mayor's town unbeknownst to him. ----moreno oso (talk) 16:59, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm done. I may have unintentionally shuffled a few sources in my reorganization of the article, but it's late, and I just want to have a look at my watchlist and call it a night. So if you're so inclined, please check the article to make sure everything's in order. I doubt very much that I'll be doing any more work on it. Good luck with the nomination. SamEV (talk) 05:55, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I just saw it. Good job. I'm going to do the nom now so the article can get reviewed. Most likely nothing will be done on it for at least two days. I've had a wild night myself and probably will be off to bed in 30 minutes. ----moreno oso (talk) 06:02, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I know who Manuel Valdées is. And it should definitely be a lot easier to expand his article than Lara's.
But I never intended to become a DYK contributor. In the case of the Monsiváis article, I was just trying to help you. In the Lara case, I was trying to earn the credit you'd shared with me for the Monsiváis improvement. So, unfortunately, I'll have to decline. I'm not even sure I'll be able to keep up, the rest of the summer, with the articles I already edit regularly, due to time concerns. Good luck, and see you around.
P.S. Lara is a PRI guy, Calderón is a PAN guy. :) SamEV (talk) 22:56, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Glad to hear it on the Valdés article. Most people think he is the greatest thing around but he doesn't do too much for me. Still can't believe he was married to Veronica Castro. The DYK userbox is up to you. Personally, I like seeing it when I visit other userpages. In a recent Page Patrol, I recognized another editor who regularly contributes to Wikipedia. He had a developing article CSD'd. I declined and vouched for him. The CSD editor nominated it as AfD despite advice on the article talkpage not to. It took two days for the AfD to close as a Keep plus the creator and I shared a DYK. BTW, I have 3200 articles under watch although a third are likely deleted CSDs and blocked users. I keep CSD'd articles around because almost invariably they will spring up again. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:06, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
BTW, let me know when you begin expansion. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:18, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
No, oso. I'm declining the invitation to help expand the Valdés article. I'm just going to focus on the articles I usually edit, some of which I've been neglecting for months.
And, um, yeah, I was shocked to learn that "El Loco" landed Veronica Castro. She's gorgeous, even if she's old enough to be my mother! SamEV (talk) 23:23, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Just checked on Lara. He hasn't been placed in a queue yet which surprises me. If you look further down my talkpage, there was some discussion about the Mexican governatorial candidate who was killed. I just read a Yahoo article that should be on the AP soon that links everything I said about this being the cartels' way of silencing opposition candidates who disagree with them. Doesn't matter which party as bullets are indiscriminate. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:30, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to hear about Valdes. Maybe I'll work on him tonight. Veronica looks like she's had one too many surgeries lately. HDTV really shows the amount of makeup some of these stars need. She kind of reminds me of Liz Taylor at a similar age. Hope she doesn't go the same route. ----moreno oso (talk) 23:30, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Oh, that's too bad. I haven't seen her in years, I must say.
It's possible I'll still help a little bit on the Valdés article (in fact, I made a minor copyedit several minutes ago), but I'd rather not commit beforehand. SamEV (talk) 23:38, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

I kind of doubt it. Argentina looked all the way like a better team and it looked like the Mexican goalie's head was somewhere else. I could have played goalie and blocked at least one of those shots. ----moreno oso (talk) 20:29, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

He gets ghits which is why I tagged it. Could you restore and if necessary BLP PROD it? ----moreno oso (talk) 23:58, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

In its last state it had no assertion of notability. The content is so sparce that restoring it seems a bit pointless. Perhaps it will be recreated with an assertion of notability and some refs. If I restored it, it wouldn't get a BLP prod, it would end up with a CSD#A7. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 00:03, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Jesús Manuel Lara Rodríguez

FYI, I've approved that DYK nom, but I couldn't verify the first alt hook, which seemed to contradict the other two. Anys isgn of an article on the guy who was killed yesterday/today/whatever it is? Btw, I fixed a grammatical error in your editnotice! It's a pet hate of mine! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 07:57, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Are you talking about the singer who was run off the road? If so, yes. It's in the recent death notices on the front page. Univision has been running segments on him because he gave an interview recently (probably just prior to Father's Day because he spoke happily about his family. Supposedly he was at a gig with his body guards; got into some kind of dust-up and then bullets and car bashing ensued. He lost and they showed him zipped up in a body bag. Wikipedia could almost do a template or series on this as the Yahoo links I put on Lara's talkpage addressed another murder with 8 people killed. In fact, Lara's friend (the other mayor) said his police department has been decimated because of desertions due to killings. ----moreno oso (talk) 08:06, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
The sad thing is that Lara may have felt with a couple of weeks to go to the election, his family and he were safe. There has been a swath of killings within the week and the drug cartels seem to be targetting the PRI to send Calderon a message. ----moreno oso (talk) 08:30, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Sergio Vega (singer) popped up on the review screen today. You have two edits, once which seemed good and the other questionable, where you changed 'mum' to 'mom'.

I hated to revert, but were you Americanizing the quote or was 'mom' his actual quote?

best regards, --UnicornTapestry (talk) 17:35, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

If I changed mum to mom, it was unintentional. I was trying to get at something else that was dubious. But, if this individual spoke, it was in Spanish and Mexicans don't use Mum. ----moreno oso (talk) 17:38, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Just caught your note. The edits on the review screen show up as a single edit unless we break them out. Sorry to put you to the extra work for one questionable edit.
--UnicornTapestry (talk) 17:41, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Then, maybe, just maybe you shouldn't have done that. I speak Spanish and have been on this article since his death. ----moreno oso (talk) 17:49, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Tridentine Mass

Hello. I was wondering why you are so opposed to having a note warning people that a link is a large pdf file on the Tridentine Mass article. I made this alteration after clicking the link without realising how large the file was and felt it would be helpful to warn other people. This is common practice on the internet, never mind your citation of wikipedian case law. Though having brought that up, I am not sure why WP:OTHERSTUFF is relevant -- that appears to be about *the existence* of *whole articles, templates, etc*, not annotations to hyperlinks. The only justification you give for reverting it is that it is "commentary", in which case I would ask why you also do not remove everything else in that section that is so clearly commenting on links -- I refer to dates, clarification that editions are "typical", information about the languages the texts are written in, which redactions were performed on the texts and who ordered them, locations of publication etc.

I am also not sure why you thought solely my edit was worth reverting in light of the fact that somebody else had done this on another file further down the page. Is there case law for that, I wonder? - Pthag (talk) 02:06, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

First, since you posted the original item, it was not good for you to revert. But, let's dismiss that pecadillo. You might to look at how to build your links. There is an accepted symbol that will tell users there is a PDF download involved. Now, for "case law" as you put it which is a terrible to put it. Please see {{subst:uw-cia1}} It's a warning for placing chat in an article. Granted, your is not the traditional chat or commentary but it is contra WP:MOS to have "extra stuff" as per your post. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:13, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
The pdf symbol was already there. I did not remove it. I added text that provides information that the symbol does not -- namely that this is a *large* pdf.
Please tell me what is against the Manual of Style in the "chat" I added. I see nothing relevant.
I remind you that a "chat" similar to the one I added has existed in the page for a while. In your second revert you reverted my change to that second caution, but did not remove the whole reference. I also remind you that that section is full of "commentary" much graver than the one I added. Would you delete it all, please? - Pthag (talk) 02:23, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Let's not get into WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS again. And, I don't have to cleanup the page if I'm Patrolling. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:27, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Please stop citing that page -- it is irrelevant to the matter at hand -- and answer my questions. I would like to know how what I wrote contravenes the Manual of Style. I would like to know why you oppose a note warning readers as to the size of the file. I would like to know why my addition was "chat", but none of the other annotations are. If you cannot answer these questions, I really see no reason why you should revert my edit which, as you admitted, is entirely in good faith. - Pthag (talk) 02:32, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Please see WP:OWN because you're trying to preserve an edit. Give it a rest and move on. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:35, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Forgive me, I did not mean to establish any proprietary claim. I have remained quite civil throughout this discussion and have only asked you to back up your justifications. Since you have not, can we agree that consensus has been reached and my original edit can stand? If you disagree, then please feel free to explain reasons why it should not; for example, how my edit is against the Wikipedia Manual of Style, why readers should not be warned about large files and (WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS notwithstanding, since it does not claim to refer to this sort of thing, but as I said, about whether or not whole articles should exist) why my addition does not fit into the existing links section of the page, given that it is richly annotated and even already included an annotation similar to the one I added. - Pthag (talk) 02:46, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Consensus? Let me see if I can explain it to you in one word. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:48, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't understand. Are we in agreement or not? -Pthag (talk) 02:53, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

No. And, this is my final. You really need to move along. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:55, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand why. It is just, of course I would prefer to re-revert the article back to include my edit, but out of respect I have come to you to explain my case. I have remained polite to you throughout this conversation, and have only asked you what fault you saw in my edit in the hope that we could come to a mutually-satisfactory agreement. I have put forward my case that I think my edit will benefit readers of the article who, like me, prefer a warning that a certain hyperlink leads to a large file which may inconvenience them. Somebody else thought similarly. Naturally, since you reverted it, you may well have equally good reasons for not wanting my edit to remain and I have asked, and am still asking you, to please share them with me. You have pointed to places where a case contra may be made, but I am afraid I don't see where. Once again, I would please ask you to tell me why my case is faulty. If you do not, then I cannot see how the situation can be anything other than that the case behind my original edit is sound. Of course, if you can see any additional reasons, please do not hesitate to mention them. I cannot, however, agree that the case has been solved since we still appear to be in (non-violent!) disagreement. -Pthag (talk) 03:05, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Don't I wish...

There were some great places up that way, but I don't recall having been there. I was a South Bay baby.  :) On the other hand, I vividly remember family celebrations at Little Joe's. Best ravioli I had ever eaten in a restaurant and believe me, I was a little kid when I was there last. I still remember the food. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:06, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

There's another one I was looking that I am pretty certain an article exists: Felipe's French Dip. It's across from the old downtown depot and stars used to hang out there. Alas the Brown Derby is gone. I could also go for Paul's Duck Press near the downtown florist merchant stalls. Best duck ala orange ever!!! ----moreno oso (talk) 03:10, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Ah, now I have been there. A must when downtown and you can walk to Olvera Street. Another must is The Pantry on Figueroa and Ninth. Clifton's Cafeteria is still around, but I forgot which street it was on. Re. the Spanish Kitchen: I actually saw the inside for myself back around 1985 or so after reading about it in the Times. It was eerie beyond belief. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:19, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Funny you should mention The Pantry. My Dad used to take the family there on Sundays because of their family pricing. My Brother still loves the place. In fact, about two years ago on his birthday, we hit El Tepeyac, Phillipe's, The Pantry and Clifton's. He loves Clifton's and just about lives there. In fact, the waitresses at The Pantry know him and his standard order/section. The guy's a bigger mooch (stomach) than me. ----moreno oso (talk) 03:24, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm no sailor but I could swear a blue streak right now and that's not me. If the In use Template means nothing, it ought to be deleted because an article, Batman film (2012), that I had the template on got deleted after I introduced reliably sourced citations that confirmed the script and the interview the director Christopher Nolan gave first to the Los Angeles Times (with a citation) and then his June 28, 2010 interview with Empire magazine. ----moreno oso (talk) 06:00, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

You're actually WATCHING the World Cup?

I tried. Like watching paint dry. Could never really get into soccer...

Anyway, great story regarding the lost wallet. As far as that place in Manhattan Beach is concerned, no, I don't remember it...but I do remember The Kettle. One of the greatest little coffee shops I've ever been to. My mom, wife and sister-in-law all worked for an insurance agency at one time and they all used to meet there for lunch. I'd join them every chance I'd get. Other late greats I remember are Nancy's in Inglewood on Arbor Vitae west of La Cienega. Without question, the best home cooking I'd ever found in LA. The parking lot was crammed with police, fire and LAX vehicles any time of day. Another was Pasgetti's. This was a little place in Inglewood at Aviation and Century right up against the Harbor Subdivision tracks. The menu was pasta, nothing more except garlic bread. Your choice of sauces and the alfredo sauce was too good to be true. Dirt cheap and absolutely wonderful. A work buddy once took me to Murray's soul food restaurant in South Central on 74th and Broadway. Only went there once; the place was so clean you could eat off of the floor and I still talk about the food twenty years later. There was Two Guys from Italy on PCH west of Crenshaw in Torrance; the homemade gnocchi a la panna in a prosciutto cream sauce were to die for. Also in Torrance, King's Hawaiian on Sepulveda at Hickory west of Crenshaw is still there; you have got to try the Kings Hawaiian bread French toast with coconut syrup if you're out that way. Ah, memories.  :)--PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:32, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I am although I had to take a break yesterday due to an emergency.
As for the lost wallet, man that was a joy ride that went sour when the idiot realized what he had done. We left Sacramento around 10 pm and basic drove non-stop to Tommy's. Couple of beers there, chili-burgers, etc and we realized we had to get home before we were missed. Had it not been for his military ID and credit cards, we would have told him to forget going back. That added two hours more to the round-trip.
I remember Pasgetti's because I always felt like a kid eating there. One of my friends liked Nancy's but with a Bob's Big Boy not to far from us and that sub shop next store, it was hard to justify leaving Westchester and Playa Del Rey. I used to love Charley Brown's down in the Marina and used to score on female stewardesses left and right. One of my roommates introduced me to martinis there and claimed they made us look more sophisticated. It helped that we hung with this guy who was 42 and about 20 years older than us. He would lay the trench for us with the women. . . ----moreno oso (talk) 17:47, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Morenooso, I am moving to Talk page then. I meant that independent reviews (from magazines and internet portals) are on the way, so the references to those hopefully will significantly support the Wiki entry. Thanks.

Please remember two things:

  2. Sign in versus posting as an anon IP.
Please keep your posts brief and to the point here in this section of my talkpage. I will review what you post and then advise you as to what I see needs to be done. Please remember: the better or more professional your posts are; the better the chance of this article being resurrected. ----moreno oso (talk) 20:43, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Class year

While I agree that "class year" may not yet be a requirement per se, in notable alumni lists, it sure beats whatevrr is second! It is an easy way of uncovering wrong entries. It is also somewhat of a notable feature in itself, for ancient schools like Harvard, Yale, Washington and Lee, etc. To say nothing of European universities. I don't think it should be automatically eliminated. But I agree that all notables need some footnote to ensure their eligibility for entry on any particular list. Student7 (talk) 15:52, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Nope. Some editors will interpret class year with notability when year has nothing to do with it. Wikipedia needs citations stating the individual did graduate and is notable if they don't have an article here. Otherwise Farmer Jim, class of 09 will seek entry. ----moreno oso (talk) 16:00, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
A side issue, perhaps, is that graduation is not necessary to be an "alum." For my purposes, it is the class year of the notable's peers. Student7 (talk) 14:54, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Wrong again. The presumption or definition of alumni or alumnus is that a student graduated from a college or university. Unfortunately it has been degraded somewhat by usage for high school and even grade school now. And while some dictionaries may include "former students, people who worked at a school or university" that's not what Wikipedia looks for when someone is included as a notable alumni from a college. The presumption is that the subject has an article here which makes them notable and cites their graduation. However, there are individuals, who do not have articles on Wikipedia, and good examples would notable priests or doctors of the church who have gone on to abbots of their orders, university presidents or like notable achievements. Using your definition, I could claim being a Stanford grad or alumni because I took an online course. Don't cheapen the field. Stick to notable graduates. ----moreno oso (talk) 15:24, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
The funny or sad thing is that about one in three posts will be self-serving posts. Famous or notable people are usually written about by other people as Mark Twain put it. Then there are "the peers" or questionable editors (not suggesting you're that but pals or buddies) who try to embellish another friend's record or resume. Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion, an endless online source or the yellow pages for self-promotion. ----moreno oso (talk) 15:35, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't surprise me too much. I've seen vandals hit an article; retaliate against the reverters/admins; get blocked and be back in less than five minutes with a new account doing the same retaliations. Barnstar

The Barnstar of Diligence
You work on improving the article Ramón Estévez has been impressive. I am honored to award you this barnstar in recognition of your diligence and service to Wikipedia. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 23:37, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I just wish I could find the link or story that connects what happened between Downey and him. It appears that Estévez remained a true friend who continued to visit Downey during his dark moments and to pump him up. I haven't been able to flush that out yet and I've had the two pieces of the puzzle that I incorporated into Estévez' article since I began the save. Just wish the story is out there. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:09, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Sandra Bullock

Hi,

A few months ago we had a little exchange about Sandra Bullock and how she is not considered German-American (by Wikipedia), despite the fact that she is German ethnically. I have a similar problem with someone reverting info about John Cassavetes as being Greek-American, despite the fact that he has never held Greek passport. The user that keeps changing this is Dr.K. I was trying to explain this to him, but he keep reverting. He is doing the same for Lorenzo Quinn. Can you help me deal with that guy? Thanks ahead. Norum 02:51, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm not on those articles. Ethnicity means almost nothing in lede unless the person is notable for bridging nationalities. Bullock did not become famous or notable for drawing upon her ethnicity. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:55, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Moreno oso. Sorry for the disturbance but I would like to set the record straight. I only reverted on Lorenzo Quinn once and then abandoned that edit because I am not familiar enough with this actor. But for Cassavetes I know that he was known to have investigated his ethnicity cinematically and I provided a citation for that fact along with a quote from the citation which Norum duly reverted without so much of an explanation but with a threat on their edit summary about my account being blocked. I also added a section on the talkpage of the Cassavetes article to which I invited Norum to participate. So far s/he has not done so. If you feel so inclined please add your thoughts on the Cassavetes article talkpage but given your reply to Norum above I will understand if you do not wish to be involved. Maybe a third opinion from WP:3O (or an RFC) could provide the solution to this minor but rather unpleasant incident. Thank you. Dr.K. λogosπraxis 17:21, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Moreno. Basically I quoted him MOS:BIO, yet he keeps reverting (probably more than the three reverts allowed by WP:3RR. Basically the story with Cassavetes is the same as with Bullock, Willis, Pesci and many others. True, Cassavetes had Greek background, therefore having Greek ethnicity, but, to my knowledge, he never held an actual Greek citizenship. Unless Dr.K can prove that Cassavetes had Greek citizenship, we should keep the entry as 'American' only. Schwarzenegger for example, is a totally different story, because he was not only born in Austria, but he also has dual citizenship. Norum 16:19, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

If you know 3RR is violated, then address it on the article talkpage and issue him a private warning. If he continues, take him to WP:ANI. ----moreno oso (talk) 03:31, 19 July 2010 (UTC)S

DYK for Ramón Estévez

The DYK project (nominate) 06:04, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good, actually...

I've seen those tortas advertised around my neck of the woods as well. I know ARCO's hot dogs are good when they're fresh; they're good old Oscar Mayer all-beef wieners, so if you get a fresh one that hasn't been in the holding oven for hours, they're durned tasty. Their burgers are good, too. Same deal; gots to get 'em fresh off the grill. They're partially pre-cooked and frozen, but they actually go in an oven and not a microwave to heat 'em up.

Gotta try me one of those torta thingies! Can't go wrong when a true torta connoisseur recommends the cheapies at ampm.  :)

Still need to try the 7-11 sushi, though. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:33, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

PS: Congrats on the Estevez DYK. I used to do local dinner theater with a charming young lady who was a member of the family. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:38, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
PPS: She was one of Joe's daughters. Joe used to come to some of the shows and he was a blast to be around. Great guy and he looks exactly like his brother. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:41, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for all. I was kind of surprised he was up for AfD. Every so often, I either review the WP:CAL deletion sort or WP:OLD listings. He fell in both categories and probably could have been closed as a Delete. I got lucky and found some stuff for his article. I gather that Martin has been really great in making sure the kids had parts in his movies and then in keeping all of them involved in each others' projects. For some reason, Ramón has chosen to ditch his acting career and settle for a "behind the scenes" kind of approach. Still, I'd love to know what really inspired Downey to credit him in that quoted article. I guess Ramón continued to visit him throughout the years and probably supported him in unknown ways. ----moreno oso (talk) 22:47, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry. One last thing: Are we supposed to tag the user's talk page or user page or both? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:28, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
The tags go on the user page for each and on talkpages for anon IPs. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
So, should I move the tags to user pages? Also, must we post on the talk pages that there is an investigation regarding the user? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:37, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Meatpuppet tag on first userpage; sockpuppet tags on others. I usually leave a note on the meatpuppet's page because so far I've been 100 percent. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Ok. So, to be clear, should I remove the sock tags from all the user talks? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:54, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
The tags only go on userpages. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:57, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

New user post

Thanks, I think, for adding all those tags while I was looking for some research materials concerning Raymond E. Fowler. This is my first full-fledged written for Wikipedia (I have written for other wikis) and I am amazed at how fast that tag was removed. Hmmmmmmmmm is this the friendly way to welcome new users. I wonder?? I'm adding back the in use tag and will work on the article tomorrow.

Fowler has written five books (a couple bestsellers I do believe) and is a well known investigator within the UFO community and worldwide.

LittleRedWriter (talk) 05:16, 20 July 2010 (UTC)LittleRedWriter

Could you please remove the reference tag from the [13] Raymond E. Fowler article as I have listed numerous references therefore the tag is not needed. I will work on the article tomorrow as it's very late here.

Thanks! LittleRedWriter (talk) 05:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)LittleRedWriter

Negative. Tagging can go on while the in use template is displayed. Put some refs up and it will either change to ref improve or disappear depending on the quality of the refs. ----moreno oso (talk) 05:42, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I didn't receive your message concerning the ref tag. I will work on the article tomorrow. FYI I have written over 300 articles at wikiHow, many were featured, and I am a retired journalist. I thought I'd give a try writing a small article at Wikipedia.

Thanks!

California Exposition & State Fair inre Rick Springfield

Went out to the California Exposition & State Fair last night with friends who specifically wanted to see it. As with most friends, who have walked all around it, they were flat-footed around 8pm when Rick Springfield came on. They left for their hotel across Exposition Blvd and I stayed and even caught Jessie's Girl. I swear Rick must only have one white T-shirt and a black tank top to change out to as I've seen the combo before. Thank God he ended his set about 25 minutes early as I left the SF before it was robbed of about $100,000. Supposedly according to one of the stations, cars leaving the fair where all checked which made for long exit lines. ----moreno oso (talk) 00:19, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Re: Darren Ross

A legit request, but I don't think it's really called for unless it's seen rapid-fire, recent recreation. The re-creations of the page have been huge spans apart, months at least, for the most part. I would gladly bet my wardrobe it's never going to demonstrate this person is notable, but it may just be some more proficient user at some point may wander in and do it properly. Until then, the page's recreation isn't really a pervasive enough menace to warrant salting, in my own opinion. If it starts up at a really high pace, then I'd definitely say it's called for. That's just my personal take on it, anyway! - Vianello (Talk) 04:50, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

It takes two people to edit war by the way, the same warning could go to you. I need an explanation as to why two sources which talk about a statement in the article cannot stay? It makes no sense and goes against all rules I have learned here. Do you want my statements to have no sources so someone else can remove them later? ValenShephard 13:45, 25 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by ValenShephard (talkcontribs)

And I only reverted that information once, so the 3 revert rule doesnt apply to me. Another user made the last revert before me. ValenShephard 13:46, 25 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by ValenShephard (talkcontribs)

Only diff is I don't edit war which is why I issued you the warning. I know when edit content is becoming an edit war. Also, I noticed that other editor is an anon IP. As for inclusion, in every article there is usually a standard about inclusion. Simón Bolívar is a historical article while Chavez is contemporary. Attempting to draw Chavez into Bolívar's is a stretch as one is considered a historical librator while the other is a contemporary dictator. If you want to talk about Chavez, his info belongs in the Chavez article. This would be akin to trying to include Obama in Lincoln's article. While Obama was initially seen as trying to evoke some of Lincoln's patterns or actions, Obama does not belong in Lincoln's article. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:57, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello there! After careful consideration, I've removed the CSD tag on the article Eric Calouro, and have given my reasoning on the article's talk page. I hope that's ok. Morenooso, can I please ask why you want your comment to stand at the Daryl AfD when it was clearly a mistaken deletion of your vote? It adds clutter and has no relevance to the AfD. Can I please ask you not to keep on adding it back. Frank already restored your original vote. No harm no foul. Thanks kindly.Griswaldo (talk) 13:17, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Duplicate votes can most certainly be removed and mistaken deletions are just that, "mistakes". If you have an issue that relates to the behavior of the person who deleted the comment please take it up at AN/I or other venues that are for behavior. The AfD is about the deletion of an article and not a discussion of mistaken (or as you insinuate not mistaken) deletions. Thanks for your cooperation.Griswaldo (talk) 13:22, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
In addition, your AfD comment was already restored before you began making additional edits to restore it and show how it had been deleted. WP:EDITCONFLICTs happen all the time; there's no need to add additional clutter by pointing them out.  Frank  |  talk  13:24, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Listen, I have participated in enough AfDs to know how and what takes place in them. If actions like this take place, there is every reason for inclusion. There was no duplicate iVote. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:31, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
