Hi, we are wondering if there is any chance you could come help us on the Oriya Wikipedia. It is currently very undeveloped and would be well-served by anybody else who knows Oriya, even the creation of several small articles is appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.169.85.57 (talk) 23:13, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

  • The article had no information about how the subject meets notability guidelines. This is an encyclopedia, not a place to give props to people you think "deserve" it. Thanks. --Kinu t/c 02:32, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

    • No, you provided a link to classmates.com, two links to press releases, and one link about Chad of Mercia that has nothing to do with your subject. He exists, but he isn't notable. Look, you created this article twice; two different editors tagged this article for speedy deletion, and two others (myself included) agreed and performed the actual deletion. I'm sorry, but I don't think this subject is an appropriate topic for a Wikipedia article. Thanks. --Kinu t/c 02:45, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
  • You can ask many of his students, and will tell you he is very talented and is "notable" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gigasolus (talkcontribs) 02:48, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
    • My students tell me the same thing, but I don't deserve an article about myself on Wikipedia. I provided you with information about what Wikipedia considers encyclopedic notability; I would suggest taking the time to read it, familiarizing yourself with policies/guidelines a bit more through editing, etc. As for this article, I think my rationale is rather clear, and I consider this discussion closed. Happy editing! --Kinu t/c 02:51, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

I missed it at first, but it is directly taken from the France article with little translation. It mostly in French. Jean-Baptiste Louis Frédéric de La Rochefoucauld de Roye Do you suggest a translation request? Cindamuse (talk) 07:10, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

  • I don't think a straight translation request is necessary... I would agree that it's probably been created by running the original fr.wikipedia article through a translator and copied here, but it seems relatively coherent. It might be all right just to slap some cleanup tags on there since it could just use some basic copy editing for grammar, etc., to bring it up to par. --Kinu t/c 07:14, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
  • The middle of the article is completely in French, seriously not coherent. I missed it at first as well. No harm; no foul. I'm gonna go ahead and request translation. Cindamuse (talk) 07:19, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Ha... oh yes, now I see it. Well, all right, for the most part it's coherent. :) Yeah, might as well put in that translation request then. --Kinu t/c 07:22, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what the proper action is in this case. User talk:Steffy1106 keeps removing tags and recreating an article once deleted. There is a clear copyright infringement and unsourced BLP. I just noticed that you deleted it a few hours ago and it's back up again same as before. She's relentless. There are so many tags on her talk page that my head is spinning. Can you offer some direction? Thanks. Cindamuse (talk) 08:18, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

  • I think you handled it the best you could. Seeing as how they stopped, I think they got the hint, but if they hadn't, I definitely would've reported it to WP:AIV (after the appropriate warnings, of course). And trust me, creating the article twice and removing the CSD template a few times is hardly relentless... I've seen new editors who've removed CSD templates dozens of times, retaliate on my talk page, recreate the article five or six times before it being salted... it's part of the fun, I guess? :) --Kinu t/c 18:56, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I setup the wiki page for Sincera today. And you tagged it for speedy deletion. Can you explain why you did this? I manage the founder of the company Mr. Carl Diebold

Bogey99 (talk) 01:48, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

  • The article was a copyright violation as having been copied directly from the company's website, and was thus deleted under speedy deletion criterion G12; please see WP:COPYVIO. That notwithstanding, your statement about managing the company's founder would indicate you have a conflict of interest in this subject, and should tread carefully in recreating this article. Copyright issues aside, it probably could have also been deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7, as it really did not indicate why the company is notable. --Kinu t/c 02:02, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Id like to recreate the article today. I have permission from the author of the website to use the info/images. I understand the conflict of interest. However, all information is factual and not being altered in any way from that of the website. Is this ok?

Bogey99 (talk) 16:43, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

  • There is no evidence that the content can be released for use on Wikipedia other than your word, which is not good enough. Likewise, it appears that your intention is to create articles about your clients, which is a blatant conflict of interest and constitutes use of Wikipedia for promotional purposes. Therefore, I say recreation of this article is wholly inappropriate. --Kinu t/c 17:43, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Kinu

I just signed on to my account and noticed that you tagged the Rutledge Nash & Associates page for deletion. Please explain why this is? The article is not a form of spam or advertisement. Its simply biographical information about the company. How can we amend this issue?

Thanks

Bogey99 (talk) 19:06, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

  • You say above that you manage Carl Diebold, and this company is a management firm that lists Carl Diebold as its client. This is a relatively cut-and-dry case of conflict of interest. For what it's worth, your edit history seems to indicate that all of the articles you have worked on are companies, people, etc., with which you have a strong connection, hence the appearance of promotion. This is highly discouraged. That notwithstanding, the article does not show why the company is notable, and none of the sources provided even mention the company, as indicated in the template at the top of the article. There need to be reliable sources showing why this company is notable. --Kinu t/c 19:23, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I tagged this article for speedy deletion, but I believe I was wrong, could you please restore? It's not as spammy as it initially looks, in my opinion. Thanks, Fingerz 17:22, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Actually, I concurred with the tag. Notwithstanding, there's definitely another problem: the content is a copyvio of their official site, so WP:CSD#G12 would've applied anyway. --Kinu t/c 17:24, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello. You deleted Executive Perils because it was not note worthy enough. I contend the fact they the company wrote one of the first cyber liability insurance policies (which is now one of the fastest growing lines of insurance), and the "shadow" policy created for SWA and AIG makes the organization at least worthy of an entry. The article was simple, objective and stayed away from anything that could be considered advertising. I kindly ask you to reconsider your decision. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdmagnuson (talkcontribs) 23:53, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

User:Cindamuse made a decent case toward her having the fanbase that meets WP:ENT, but we also have the problem that proving the fanbase is difficult... as fan clubs themselves are never seen as WP:RS, and one has to then find an RS that at least mentions the fanbase. A major problem is that the wording of WP:ENT actually encourages OR, in that it speaks toward fan base and cult following without actually setting criteria for determination of such. Sigh. What I propose[1][2] is that we agree to a temporary merge and redirect to List of One Life to Live cast members as long as we can spin her back out if/when she wins an award or gets another notable gig. Reasonable compromise? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 23:51, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello Kinu,

I was creating English version of the ru:Институт проблем передачи информации им. А. А. Харкевича РАН, Institute for Information Transmission Problems when I have been interrupted by CorenBot. all I have put is the infobox, and basic information, about a 100 words. The text I included is a bowdlerized copy of the the first paragraph from the 'about' page of the institute. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AbduArbache (talkcontribs) 07:46, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

  • You essentially answered your own question... it was tagged as a copyright violation because the text was copied from the Institute's site. (Indeed, it was every other sentence, give or take, and a few words were changed here and there, but the majority of the text was essentially the same, which is still a copyright problem, hence why the bot tagged it). Speedy deletion criterion G12 applied in this case. You are welcome to create an article using the Institute's site as a source of information, but not as a source of the text itself. I hope this information helps. --Kinu t/c 07:51, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
  • So how can I include this text ?

"The Institute for information transmission problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Kharkevich Institute) was established in December 29, 1961 by decree No.1144 of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences. By the same decree, Academician A.A. Kharkevich was nominated director of the Institute."

Hi Kinu,

I'm new to posting on wiki, and this is the only way I could find to contact you.

You recently deleted an article I had written on Alex Rusinko Shihan. It was deleted for a suspected G12 violation (it was not a copyright violation), as well as because the article didn't state the significance of the person. The entire article is about the significance of the person, being the first occidental to develop a new American style of Aikido.

Please give me some pointers on what I need to do to get this article re-published.

Thanks! Hirikiaikido (talk) 20:06, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Nik

  • The article did not have a legitimate assertion of significance (at least, not one that was immediately apparent, given the length/tone of the article). Likewise, any article about living persons must meet notability guidelines; they must show how an individual is notable using multiple, non-trivial third-party references. The one reference provided was to the subject's own website. (Also, while I could not guarantee the content was a copyright violation, the actual reason was the significance issue.) Also, the tone of the article was somewhat of a resume and possibly promotional; based on your user name, you may have a conflict of interest in the creation of this article. Please see the links I have provided for information on what constitutes a legitimate encyclopedia article. Thank you. --Kinu t/c 20:15, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello,

I am new to writing wikipedia articles. My first article was tagged for speedy deletion. After rewriting numerous versions I think my article conforms to Wikipedia standards. I have several questions though - one, is it possible to give too many references? 2, How to I get my article to post so that it can be re evaluated? 3, Are all the versions I've done going to be viewable forever? It seems sloppy because to me these were only drafts - but maybe I should not have pushed save -- ? Is there a way of deleting these multiple, similar versions now? Thanks very much Rizmagnusson (talk) 19:24, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

You tagged this article for BLP prod, but I've declined it — only rather recent articles are subject to the BLP prod process, and this article has been around for four years. Hello sir. I would like to ask why the Wikipedia entry on Mr. George Tan Yang was deleted despite the fact that it was backed by numerous references and articles and the man is recognized as an important businessman in the Philippines. As founder of McDonald's Philippines, he opened the doors to McDonald's entering these shores 30 years ago.

He has also given back to society through various corporate social responsibility efforts while being recognized by two institutions that he earned accolades from: both San Beda College and De La Salle University.

Finally, I find it disturbing that Mr. Yang's entry was deleted while a corporate rival of his, Mr. Tony Tan Caktiong, remains online.

As a Wikipedia contributor in past years, this does not sit well with me and I hope you can address it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nightwing23 (talkcontribs) 09:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I haven't looked into the history, but the reason you give for the indefinite block is wrong: He did not only vandalize, he made a reasonable comment at Talk:List of countries by GDP (PPP) per hour worked and when welcoming him Nsaa wrote "Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for Economic Freedom of the World." Please be more careful next time.
And could you give advice for how to deal with List of countries by GDP (PPP) per hour worked? Comments on talk indicate nearly everyone agrees it's highly dubious but the article only has a warning that it's lacking references and no one seems to be sure how to improve it. Knopffabrik (talk) 13:29, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Please do not be so quick to judge without determining the whole story. I re-blocked this user in July 2007 after an obvious return to vandalism after his original block expired, which can be seen on his list of contributions (i.e., the most recent edits, in which he admits via edit summaries that they are vandalism), not to mention many deleted contributions which cannot be seen by non-administrators. Perhaps mislabeled as "vandalism-only" but the rationale of "vandalism" still is justified. I have no idea why a "welcome" template was issued over a year and a half later, considering this user was still blocked. --Kinu t/c 16:20, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Probably the welcoming user saw a valuable contribution from a red link user and did not notice the block. I sometimes have the impression that administrators - who admittedly have an unpleasant job with vandals - treat new or difficult users in a way that quickly gets aggressive and snotty and this aggravates the situation as difficult users who feel treated unfair tend to come back and do evil stuff. Please don't take this personal, it was the first time I ever saw your name and I guess you do your best. Thank you. Knopffabrik (talk) 14:17, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Deleted Article: Press for Change
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

I was going to create an article about an organization in the UK called "Press for Change", when I saw that an article had previously existed but was deleted by you for lack of notability. I have several reliable sources... at least I think I do... I am kinda new, but these look good to me:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/politics_show/5407582.stm

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/relationships/7867780/So-I-had-a-sex-change.html

http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/story.asp?storyCode=170563&sectioncode=26

http://www.personneltoday.com/articles/2005/04/06/29121/new-hr-obligations-for-transsexual-people.html

So... where do I go from here? Do you think I have enough here to make an article? Is there a way to see the old one, or the deletion discussion? So sorry if I am not following the right protocol here. I have no connection to the subject, just looking to contribute. Thanks! Tarastar42 (talk) 21:36, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

  • I would say there's no reason not to be bold and create an article. If you can find the sources, I'd start with a draft in your user space (i.e., User:Tarastar42/Press for Change), making sure to clearly indicate why the subject is notable. I looked at the sources and feel that they're trivial mentions of the organization in articles about the broader topic of transgendered individuals, but there might be something else out that that qualifies as "significant coverage" per notability guidelines. I hope this helps! --Kinu t/c 21:55, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

I am editing my page right now to add encyclopedic content. It is not intended for advertising in the slightest... only meant to inform. Please don't delete it =(

ShadowfulPuppet (talk) 02:25, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Really? Considering the article says ShadowPuppet, a dedicated coder, owner and founder of the website, I find that hard to believe. Please see Wikipedia's notability criteria for websites. --Kinu t/c 02:27, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok I'll remove that sir I didn't realize how that sounds >_<. honestly it's not my intention please :( Just give me some time to look it over.

ShadowfulPuppet (talk) 02:30, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

  • And it's been deleted again. I fail to see this website as being a notable topic worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Once again, I advise you to read Wikipedia's notability criteria for websites. Without any claim of importance, the article is subject to speedy deletion. I also suggest looking at Wikipedia's stance on conflict of interest, as by your own admission you are clearly affiliated with this website. --Kinu t/c 02:47, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

I have read it sir and I am trying to follow it. I am including #A7, as I am explaining the significance right now. It is significant because it is contributing heavily to the gaming world by creating original customs. #G11, there is no content on there that is blatantly advertising. Yes I am affiliated with the web site but I ASSURE YOU, I swear on my life, this is not for the purpose of advertising. Please sir, Let me just finish editing it as I am removing any bias remaining to make it PURELY informational. Please sir just give me some time.

Hi. I have declined your hoax speedy on this, because this one actually seems to be real - at least, it's in IMDb. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 09:27, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Responded at your talk page (which I was already writing when you posted here, coincidentally). --Kinu t/c 09:28, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
    • Sorry about that - the IMDb entry says "The Knowledge (TV 1979)" which I took to mean it was about a TV series. I suppose it must mean it was a made-for-TV movie. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 09:35, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
      • No worries... it and much of the creator's other edits (as well as those of his socks) were pretty sneaky hoaxes. Unfortunately for him, the sockpuppetry and often ridiculous misreferencing gave it away. I've spent quite a bit of time cleaning up his mess. Ugh! --Kinu t/c 09:37, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Edit: I can't believe you've also removed my addition to the Visual Novel article!!! Why? I've even provided a valid reference there!!! Please explain your actions.

I've started a special wip article of vNovel. I'd like you to help me with shaping it to conform to guidelines, and become a valid wikipedia article. I feel that it is important to mention this publisher for their contribution to visual novels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Bokiseles/VNovel_Interactive —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bokiseles (talkcontribs) 22:58, 27 October 2010 (UTC) Bokiseles (talk) 23:03, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Your additions contained no assertion as to why the company is important... merely saying they make a "significant contribution" and "revolutionizing the medium" is not a credible claim of importance without some sort of detail. Also, your additions to the Visual novel article contained no reliable sources, merely addition of links to the company's website (which could be interpreted as advertising) and a block of text attributed to a blog. You are welcome to create an article which is clearly outlines the notability of this company from reliable sources. I hope this information clarifies the rationale. Thank you. --Kinu t/c 23:05, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
  • I see... Thank you. I'll try to reference the article better to 'notable' and 'reliable' sources. I may ask for your help when it's finished, just to have a look at it - if it conforms to Wikipedia standards - okay? I'm new to writing articles on Wikipedia. Bokiseles (talk) 23:12, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
  • Not a problem. I'll gladly offer any assistance. Remember: the key is sources beyond the company's own website. If they have made a significant contribution, then information from a reliable source, such as the media, would help to establish that notability. --Kinu t/c 23:24, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

my Tristan Couvares page
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Tristan Couvares page should not have been deleted. www.controltv.com is a very real, very significant and groundbreaking experiment into reality entertainment. ControlTV has its own page, and Tristan Couvares is its first subject. The show itself is produced by Seth Green, and there are more facts about Tristan's life I'd like to add to the page. Many people will edit/add to the page, and will enjoy its existence. Please reinstate the page and allow for more to be added to it. As the popularity of controltv.com grows, and as possible following seasons come, the importance and significance of Tristan Couvares will become apparent. Keeba13 (talk) 00:05, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Keeba13

  • Looking at the references from the last version you edited, the only "references" appeared to be Facebook and Twitter, and contained no assertion of importance, only a slew of trivial or otherwise unencyclopedic facts: a pioneer in bringing awesomeness to reality entertainment, streamed live for all of our viewing pleasure, and a list of his hobbies/favorite bands/favorite movies. This appeared to be a legitimate A7. If he truly is notable, and actual biographical information outside of the context of the show can be found, then please create a sourced article that clearly explains his notability. As it stands, there appears nothing to salvage from this article other than the basic sentence [H]e is a young, brave soul who has agreed to be streamed live on the internet 24 hours a day for six weeks on the pioneering reality web show Control TV, which in itself is barely a stub and is more appropriately redirected to the web show's article. As I said earlier, I have no object to an actual sourced biography that clearly establishes notability, but as it stands, it is probably better off to start over. --Kinu t/c 02:01, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
    • When I went to see if I could recreate the page, and I searched for Tristan Couvares it rerouted me to the Control TV page. Will you please reinstate the page I made so I can put in the changes that you've asked me to make? I can reference http://www.thisisbrandx.com/2010/10/controltv-web-reality-show-tristan-couvares.html for one, and I can find other sites to reference, as well. Not to mention the fact that I HAVE gotten more biological information. he was born in Manchester Connecticut in mid class family his father was a blue caller/ business man he worked in finances/insurance sales man he has an younger brother name josh and older sister name maurya his mother and father split Tristan's degree majored in economics at the university of CT He in-turned in LA he decided to move to LA b.c he loved the city and worked recruiter as an IT consulting company When he found out about Control tv he was looking for an another job because he was tired of his "JOBS" and looking for a new one so he was searching craigslist or "online ap" for a job and found the applications for "control tv " he filled it out they called him back for several interviews he told his friends he thought he messed up at everyone but they kept calling him back and then at the last few weeks before the show they chose Tristan. PLease please give me the opportunity to fix what you've asked. As it stands right now, I can't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keeba13 (talkcontribs) 02:52, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
      • At present I'm not convinced that you fully understand the level of sourcing that is required for a biographical article on a living person (Wikipedia absolutely cannot have possibly libelous information), but I will assume good faith. If you can show me a reliable source that discusses these purported biographical facts, I will consider restoring the article (with the understanding that if it does not conform to Wikipedia standards it may be deleted again, either speedily or otherwise). As I said before, the subject of the article does in fact appear notable enough to warrant an article; however, the article laden with unencyclopedic/unsourced information and no apparent information about his importance that you created was certainly not it. --Kinu t/c 03:32, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

21:13, October 27, 2010 Kinu (talk | contribs) deleted "Dlist.com" ‎ (A7: Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)

I am not sure what content was on the page, and I could be mistaken because I cannot check it now, but I do not think it met speedy deletion criteria. Is there any way you could please restore it and AFD it? Thanks. Blue Rasberry 00:21, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

  • The entire content of the article was: DList.com is a social networking website operated by OLB Interactive, LLC., that facilitates same-sex introductions. It is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.. There was no credible claim of importance, and thus meets the qualifications of a speedy A7. I have no idea as to the actual notability of the site and whether it would be a topic of inclusion, and do not object to an article that passes A7 and also shows notability, but this appears to be a legitimate A7 due to the lack of any actual indication of why this site is of importance. --Kinu t/c 01:55, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Please would you explain why you deleted the Camp Simcha UK page? As far as I was concerned, this page was not clearly advertising (as you had marked it), and there was no reason for it to be deleted. Your feedback would be appreciated. Sam.kennard (talk) 15:26, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

  • As far as I was concerned, it was. Given that the article was created by User:Campsimchauk, the tone of the article, the embellishment of trivial information about the organization, and the lack of any legitimate third-party sourcing, it seemed pretty likely that it was spam, so WP:CSD#G11 applied. Likewise, upon further reflection, there was no assertion of importance, so if an editor had tagged it as WP:CSD#A7, I would likely have endorsed that as well. --Kinu t/c 17:43, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Kinu, thank you for your response. I mentioned the company in the broader context of juice cleansing as I thought they were a good example of it. • Right now the article appears to be an original research essay based entirely on a single source (a book with the title "Digital Performance"). In order to show that this is an encyclopedic topic, other third-party sources need to show that the term "digital performance" is used as it is defined in the article, and the content of the article needs to be sourced without any unencyclopedic commentary. --Kinu t/c 23:07, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Press for Change
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

I realise that you have already been questioned on this matter, but I am puzzled as to why you deleted the Press for Change page on the grounds of it being an "unimportant" organisation. Press For Change is one of the most significant Transgender organisations in the UK, and has been instrumental in influencing UK laws, with it being the principle lobbying group behind the Gender Recognition Act 2004, and having continually lobbied on Transgender equality since (http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200607/cmselect/cmhealth/422/422we33.htm), as well as releasing publications on transgender equality (http://www.equalityhumanrights.com/advice-and-guidance/your-rights/transgender/transgender-additional-resources/). PFC is also notable in that its members include high profile members of the trans community e.g Prof. Stephen Whittle OBE, and Chrsitine Burns MBE. Please tell me, if the work which these people have carried out within Press for Change has been of enough significance for its principle members to have received orders of chivalry from the Queen, how can Press for Change be regarded as being "insignificant"?
I would provide further references, however, PFC's own website has recently come under attack online, meaning that the information it contained is currently inaccessible. I find it concerning that this page has been taken down, given the wider context of internet attacks which have taken place, both on PFC and on similar organisations. As a person who is actively involved in the Transgender rights movement in the UK (I work within an LGBT rights organisation as a Transgender representative, I would give furtehr details, but which to protect my anonymity here) I can assure you that Press for Change is a very significant part of the trans movement in this country. I am hoping that the deletion of this article is simply due to your lack of knowledge on the topic area rather than something which is linked to other actions which have taken place online recently, and please forgive me if I have implied otherwise in my message. Could you please give specific details of why you thought it appropriate for this article to be deleted, and any specific knowledge you have on this subject area which you feel qualifies you to make an informed judgement on the topic?

Thankyou. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.201.124.35 (talk) 18:43, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

  • A speedy deletion does not assess whether a subject is important... it assesses whether the article contains an assertion of importance. You're right, I can't say whether the organization is notable (your references may indicate it is, I don't know)... but I do know that an article should, at a bare minimum, indicate some sort of assertion of importance. The article was deleted because it didn't... simple as that. It was barely two sentences, most of which was a direct quote from the original site (you've told me more about the organization in your comment than the article said) and the date it was founded. I had indicated to another user previously that if a sourced article can be created, there is no reason not to be bold and do so. You seem to be aware of this previous discourse, so I am puzzled as to why my intentions/actions aren't clear from that. Also, as an aside, assuming good faith is always a good idea around here... intimating that I'm involved in something sinister based on the fact that this is one of thousands of articles I've involved myself with is unfounded. --Kinu t/c 01:38, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I have been in the middle of making it and have had to start over twice because of you guys.

I own everything that I put on the wikipedia, and if it appears anywhere else as in "http://www.gotofirstclass.com/Sylvia_Fletcher.htm" then they are either promoters (which they are in this case) or they stole it from me.

Let me make my article and stop deleting it!

  • Because she has indicated an intent above to continue re-creating this article after receiving notices and explanations, I have salted it to prevent its re-creation. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:29, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't see how my page is any different than Jeff Dunhams page. I am not even done editing my page and it is deleted.

I am sorry about my "attitude" but I just started on this and my intention is not to self-promote, but rather give other people information about me, but I cannot do this if you guys keep deleting it before I am even done.

All I want is to make my page and show you that I am not trying to self-promote. I don't need a website like wikipedia to promote myself.

All the stuff on there is all about me and not really about my busiess. There is no number, no pricing, no anything that really constitutes as self-promotion.

Please let me know how this in ANY WAY is self promotion. Are you saying that no entertainers have written a page about themselves? I don't think that is true.

Magictrunk (talk) 23:47, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

  • I think you misunderstand the purpose of Wikipedia. It is not a free webhost for people to write autobiographies. The statement "this is my wikipedia" holds no weight... see WP:OWN. You say your purpose is "give other people information about me"... to be frank, that is the definition of self-promotion. Likewise, "Jeff Dunham's page" is a misnomer... it is an "encyclopedia article about Jeff Dunham". From the history, it is clear that he didn't write the article about himself. Rather, it is an article that is based on reliable sources about a notable individual. I would advise you to read the information posted on your talk page and see WP:5P. --Kinu t/c 23:56, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

For those in the United States, there is an excellent new user's guide. There is a wealth of information and resources for creating a great article. If you have questions about any of these WikiProjects, you can ask on each project's talk page, or you can ask me!

If you like communicating through IRC, feel free to ask questions at #wikipedia-en-roads as well. Here, there are several editors who are willing to answer your questions. For more information, see WP:HWY/IRC.

Again, welcome! Imzadi 1979  05:39, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

WP:USRD is in the middle of a stub reduction drive called 2011: A De-Stubbing Odyssey. The goal is to reduce the total number of stubs for the project by 2011 over the course of the year. Please help us reach our goal by expanding or merging stub articles to realize the goal. Imzadi 1979  05:42, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Texas road articles

The general rule for assessment is that if an article has none or one of the three sections, it's usually rated as a stub. If it has two of the sections, it's usually rated as start-class, and if it has all three, it's rated as C-class. Granted, this isn't always applied consistently and there are exceptions (I often rate articles a class lower if a section is exceptionally short, for example), but that's the general practice. The formal guidelines are at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Assessment. If you're not sure what class an article should be, just tag it with the USRD banner without adding a class, and it should be assessed quickly by someone else in the project. As far as reassessment goes, to do it formally, add the parameter reassess=yes to the article. You probably shouldn't reassess your own articles until you become comfortable with the rating system; even then it's not really encouraged, though in practice it's generally fine when it's between the lower classes (I do this sometimes myself when destubbing articles). If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me or someone else at WP:USRD. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 10:32, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Excellent... I definitely will leave the reassessment to others for now (if nothing else because I feel that having work peer reviewed is crucial to the project). I have been going back and fixing some of my stubs (partly because I feel positive pressure from the destubbifying drive), so I did tag a couple of articles for reassessment using the reassess parameter; I'll see what the effects of that are. Thanks so much for the information and for your work on the project... it is definitely appreciated! --Kinu t/c 11:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
    • The "gentleman's agreement" has basically become "C-Class or lower, reassess yourself if you're comfortable, B-Class, ask someone else". Of course you can use the reassess parameter or join us in the IRC channel and ask someone there. If USRD_bot or routebot are in the channel, just type out !bell [[article name]] and the bot will a) ring the reassessment bell for you and b) expand the article name into the full URL link. If the bot's not around, just paste the URL into the channel and ask for a reassessment. Of course, GA-Class and higher have their review processes. Imzadi 1979  22:02, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
      • Sounds good. I think I've gotten the hang of the nuances of the criteria over the past few weeks, based on comments (yours and other editors') and by using the eventual ratings of the articles I've put up for assessment as barometers for my own self-assessment. I've felt comfortable giving the stubs I've been expanding Start- or C-class (it usually seems to come down to how fleshed out the history section is). I probably won't be creating/expanding any articles at B-class anytime soon (given the priority of stub elimination), nor would I feel comfortable assessing at that level right now, but if I feel an article that already exists should be rated higher I'll flag it one way or another for someone else to reassess. Thanks! --Kinu t/c 23:16, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I love the new template you created, but I did make some changes such as using {{cite map}} instead of {{cite web}} and Wikilinking the page number to the map while letting the url go to the map search page. I also added map scale and edition parameters. Do you know if there is a way to add a comma-separated list of page links? I look forward to using your new template. It will be a huge time saver. Fortguy (talk) 03:47, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Thanks... it definitely got redundant typing the same type of reference over and over again, so it was definitely one of my better ideas. :) Plus it's also nice to be able to correct any citation issues in one shot, as you have... so I do appreciate that. As for your thoughts, I'm pretty sure there's a way to be able to cite multiple page numbers, i.e., passing a regular expression to the template so it can tell the difference between one page, multiple pages, a range of consecutive pages, or what-have-you. I'll look into it, since it'd be cleaner than having to use four reference tags to cite four different pages, which I actually had to do for one FM article earlier today. I don't even want to imagine how crazy it would get on an article about a longer route... ha. --Kinu t/c 04:45, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
