Re: User:Ste4k/VER

Well if I remember right, User:Ste4k was very strongly against the verifiability policy and therefore created the list of people who edited it. The user was banned in July 2006 and Ste4k hasn't done anything horrible to the people on the list so it's nothing to worry about. What I am worried about is the deletion of the user and the talk pages of a user who has substantial history ... I'll undelete them now. Graham87 04:37, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Spelling?

What spelling did I Americanise? It is not something that I naturally do, preferring English/Australian spelling of words. Stellar (talk) 11:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:AdolfReichwein.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AdolfReichwein.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kelly hi! 00:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

"destructive" edits

I don't think the word "destructive" is appropriate for what I did to the Eibenstock article. I removed an ugly red link to an image that wasn't available in English wikipedia or Commons, that's all. I remember one article that was in an even worse state: Johanngeorgenstadt. Since those images haven't been added yet, you can still see here how it looked. I do appreciate that you improved those articles, though. If you don't want other editors to remove links to images you're going to add in the future, I suggest you comment them out like this: <!-- [[Image:Pferdegöpel-Johannstadt.jpg]] to be uploaded soon -->. Markussep Talk 18:32, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh come on, I did not butcher or destroy articles. If you want people to cooperate, you shouldn't attack them like that. The way you left the articles Eibenstock and Johanngeorgenstadt (for several months) was not acceptable. You could have either commented the missing images out or actively asked other users (for instance at de:) to upload specific files. But I see you did it yourself now, that's OK, case closed. Luxembourg map

Something completely different: I noticed you made a nice map of Luxembourg: Image:LuxembourgOMCmap.png. To me the choice of towns to show on the map is a bit strange: some of the larger towns, like Mersch, Grevenmacher, Bettembourg and Echternach are not on it, and villages that are basically not more than three farms, like Grundhof and Bockholz-lès-Hosingen are shown (but not Hosingen itself). Is it easy for you to change the map? Markussep Talk 21:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Good! Places I would like to see on the map (and that aren't there now) are Mersch, Grevenmacher, Bettembourg, Echternach, Vianden, Schifflange, Mamer, Arlon (B), Bitburg (D), Clervaux, Redange, Remich. Places that can be removed: Grundhof, Bockholz-lès-Hosingen, Schlindermanderscheid, Rollingen, Eschette, Elvange-l-B, Mertert, Hachiville, Niederdonven and Oberdonven. Markussep Talk 20:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the new map. All the larger places are on it now. Is it easy to add rivers? The Alzette would fit nicely IMO. Actually, I would prefer a bigger font for the place names, rather than more places (those places on my "remove" list are really small and not very relevant, they can go IMO). See the Geography of Luxembourg article for instance. Markussep Talk 14:26, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm rather unsure myself. I think you are right, but I've never ventured up to Witham (I live down on the south coast of Essex), and the town is not a topic that's come up in conversation much. I believe you're right in that I would pronounce it as if to rhyme with "bit 'em", but whether that's how you're meant to pronounce it, I'b afraid that I'm not much good for verifying that. -- Sabre (talk) 10:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Facade

The cedilla is not really necessary when used as an English word - see, for example, the style guide of the major British newspaper The Guardian - though I'll grant that the OED does give that as it's preferred spelling. David Underdown (talk) 10:32, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, I've just come here to your page to make that same comment. I see from your user page that you are Canadian. That probably accounts for some sensitivity as to how words of French derivation are used. But I can assure you that facade was adopted as an English architectural term more than 100 years ago. On the other hand, the "hall church" which is rare in England, may still be referred to by the German name, as they are common there. Amandajm (talk) 10:55, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Windmill

Hi, regarding this picture which you took, Image:Moulindedaudet1.jpg, do you have any information on approximate date and/or location for the picture? Image licensing

Hey there...

I am trying to clean up some of the images with minor licensing issues and I came across Image:Icefall.jpg which is only used on your userpage. If you are going to use the image, could you go and fix the licensing on the image page and be clear about releasing the image under a GFDL license (or another free license). Thanks. If you have any questions, please drop me a note on my talk page. --Jordan 1972 (talk) 21:47, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel

Please return this page to the English spelling as this is the English language version of wikipedia - Fröbel is not the usual English spelling - although Kindergarten has been in the Oxford dictionary since 1852 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.2.40.185 (talk) 23:11, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

  • "Froebel" is the spelling that's used if the "ö" character is unavailable, but here on Wikipedia, most any special letter character is available. Have a look around the English-language Wikipedia. Plenty of people and places in German-speaking Europe have "ä", "ö", "ü" or "ß" in their titles. We use them here, whether anonymous editors like it or not. Why should I return the Fröbel article to its original, ignorant spelling? "Fröbel" is how he spelt his name.Kelisi (talk) 02:02, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Your enthusiasm for German umlauts is admirable but in this context amounts to vandalism. For over 150 year his name has been written in English as Froebel, which is how it appears in dictonaries, Encylopedias and the many institutions named in his honor. Please revert to the most recognised form of his name in English - which is I believe Wikipedia policy. Your pedantry is simply confusing to the masses and degrades the utility of Wikipedia. Fred20x (talk) 05:19, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I refer you to Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#Use_English_words and the more detailed explanation at Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(use_English). Specifically, "Name your pages in English and place the native transliteration on the first line of the article unless the native form is more commonly recognized by readers than the English form. The choice between anglicized and native spellings should follow English usage . . . Sometimes the usual English version will differ somewhat from the local form as in Franz Josef Strauss; and rarely, as with Mount Everest, it will be completely different." Redirect of Bütlowstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Bütlowstraße (Berlin U-Bahn), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Bütlowstraße (Berlin U-Bahn) is a nonsense redirect page formed as a result of the reversion of page move vandalism (CSD G3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Bütlowstraße (Berlin U-Bahn), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hirschhorn

Hello, I saw you edited quite a bit of the article I started. I don't object with any of the changes, but was wondering if there had to be any change if it was just the dialect of English changed. I don't really think it sounded all to 'awkward', but I do not hide the fact I am not a native English speaker. You know those Germans are perfectionists ;-) - Da war doch gar nicht wirklich so viel falsch dran, oder? Greetings Olaf Fritz (talk) 23:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Health care or healthcare? Long term or longterm?

Hi! Who is deciding what kind of English that is used? To the Bhopal disaster site, I have copied texts from my book, that are language checked by a South African friend of mine (professional). Many others have also been corrected by you. I am used to read health care and long term also in other texts. As I understand, there are many variations in English. Is the Canadian English the same as the USA English? Definitely not the same as the British English, probably not the same as Australian.14:39, 5 March 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ineck (talkcontribs)

Lohr

Whoa!

I have started this page!!!! And I have been working on this page off and on. Vandalism!!! is a rather harsh statement. Right now it seems a lot of terms you are using don't make any sense to an US reader. It would be very much appreciated if you go to the discussion page and ask why certain terms are being used on this page.

By the way Regierungsbezirk certainly isn't a term people would use in the US nor would they understand. Since I started this page I would like to continue working on it and would love to have a version any person can understand. Please discuss before making major changes since it is very disrespectful.

Changes to Infobox German location template.

No it doesn't look dreadful. Having a map the same size as a coat of arms looks dreadul. Pushpin maps are not supposed to be rendered as small as 100px. Funny how nobody showed a concern before and when the change is made people start fussing. The current layout is exactly how virtually every othe rinfobox on wikipedia for settlements in rendered. Are you saying that all the other infoboxes look awful? Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:17, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Conformity and consistency is neccesarily a big thing. The more consistent our layout and articles (and quality) are on wikipedia the better. Even non standrd boxes like Amalfi in Italy etc have the coat of arms above and the map a decent size below. A 100 px with a fat bloated pin locator which is half the size of the actual region in Germany is a very inaccurate map and rendered as small as the coat of arms means that the map is pretty useless. May I ask precisely what it is that you think is dreadful about the infobox? I would have no objection to reducing the map size a little perhaps to 180px but surely you don't think 100px is a good size for a pin map? Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:46, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Thats the one thing I agree with you on its the map size. It looks a little bigger than I expected even at 220px I agree, not awful though, just a little too big. I would recommend we reduce it down to 170-180px. As for the pin point. Well the thinner pin is better than the same one at a fat size, but the general consensus for settlements on wikipedia seems to be using this red dot as unfortunate it may appear to you. 12:05, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Just noticed one of your translations

I just noticed one of your translations. Just a little heads up - we have for some time always translated Gemeinde with municipality. There is a whole list of terms and other info at Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany/Conventions. It would most likely also be of benefit if you join Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany and watchlist the page for discussion concerning Germany related subjects. Agathoclea (talk) 12:05, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

No worries it will get picked up sometime. As far as you comments on the "lesser" goes: In Wales there are Town and Community Councils. But legally all Town Councils are Community Councils, still you would not call those that are just Community Council lesser Community Councils. Same applies to Germany - Towns are municipalities from a legal point of few. But the extra responsibilities and rights they have give them the term Town/City instead. This brings me to something else. only Towns over 100k inhabitants are called cities in Germany-related wikipedia articles. But have a look at St David's just for a laugh. Image permission problem with Image:Colombiamap.gif

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Colombiamap.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 08:22, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Commander Crabb

Hi Can you confirm for me your posting regarding Crabb where you mention my father Arthur William Tomkins. I'm just intrigued because my father was friendly with Crabb and his mate Maitland Pendock, as was my mother. I'm just interested as to where you came across his name? He did once tell me when I was a kid that he had worked for Naval Intelligence and I know that he worked at the War Office in London during the first world war. My mother tells me that she was specifically told by Maitland to say that Crabb was going to Portsmouth should anyone ask.

Just be good to know how you came across my father's name. He dided in 1977 though my mother, who was many years younger, is still alive.

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Snikmot (talkcontribs) 16:50, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Kelsi, just happened to be walking by and saw this question so did a little digging - Tomkins's name was added on 8 Novemer 2008 in this edit. At some point someone asked for a citation and the statement was removed with this edit as lacking a citation since November. A quick search of [ "Lionel Crabb" Arthur Tomkins ] turns up "Frogman spy: the incredible case of Commander Crabb", aka "Frogman Extraordinary 'The Commander Crabb Case'", with no apparent ISBN, Google teaser here Hope this helps, CliffC (talk) 22:06, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Map of New Zealand

I noticed a few misspellings at File:NZOMC.PNG, and wondered if you could fix them and upload a new version.

  • At the northern point of the map, Cape Reinga is misspelled as "Cape Reigna".
  • At the southern end, Stewart Island/Rakiura is the official name of the island, not "Stewart Island". I realise that this is a sensitive point for some, but as you have named Aoraki/Mount Cook correctly I think the map should be consistent.
  • It might just be my monitor/eyesight, but it appears you have "Pakin" instead of Pakiri about half-way between Auckland and Whangarei. However, Pakiri is tiny; more substantial settlements in the area are Warkworth and Wellsford.

In general, I think it's more important to list towns with a substantial population than localities which fill a blank spot on the map. For Northland, for example, you list the localities Mitimiti and Titoki but not the towns Kaikohe, Kerikeri and Kaitaia. Kaikohe is the site of the Far North District Council, so it has importance beyond its population size although its the least populous of the three. Mitimiti does not have a Wikipedia article, although the article on Matihetihe does cover the area to some extent (it's one of the few places in Northland that I haven't visited and I'm not sure if it's appropriate to create a redirect from the former to the latter. My guideline is to create articles only for localities which have at least a primary school; Mitimiti does not have one).

I think we do need a more detailed map of New Zealand than the existing File:New Zealand towns and cities copy.jpg, and thank you for creating one.-gadfium 02:00, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I stumbled upon your user page and was wondering if you could offer any tips for creating locator maps... where do you get the 'base' map and what program do you use to fill in the colours? Colipon+(Talk) 23:56, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

It will likely come as no surprise to you that the Chinese censors – for I am in China – will not let me reach any of your userpages. This made me deeply suspicious, especially as your message appeared soon after I edited an article about a well known Chinese figure. However, I have managed to determine that you mainly, if not almost exclusively, edit articles about China, and the article titles – for I could not see the text – suggest that they are on the official no-no list. Oh well, things will change one day.
As to your actual question, it's all explained on my userpage. There are links there to the two mapmaking sites that I use, OMC and OSM. For licences, just look at the examples on the image pages. They never seem to be seriously questioned and I believe they are legitimate. The only thing that I haven't mentioned on my userpage is that I use MicroSoft Paint to manipulate the maps (ie stitching smaller maps together to make bigger ones, changing the colours [for the default colours – especially in OMC – are putrid], inserting text and so forth).
So, give those two sites a try. I hope that helps.
Yes. My page contains several references to XXXXX XXXX and thus is blocked in China. I apologize. This reminds me to delete these references before I go there this winter so I can access my own userpage. Why don't you use a proxy site? They are not hard to find. AfD nomination of List of films portraying paedophilia or sexual abuse of minors

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of films portraying paedophilia or sexual abuse of minors. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of films portraying paedophilia or sexual abuse of minors. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Julius_Fucík.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Julius_Fucík.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:32, 14 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Karte Dabrun in Deutschland.png

A tag has been placed on File:Karte Dabrun in Deutschland.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your bot made this "correction" at the article The Adventure of the Stockbroker's Clerk. "Correcting" Commonwealth spellings to American spellings is not only utterly needless, but against WP policy. Hi Kelisi, thanks for noticing that. I'm well aware of US/UK spelling variants, and that particular substitution made it onto my bot's list by accident. If you look at the revision history, you'll see that my bot made that mistaken change back in August 2008, and I removed the substitution from my bot a long time ago. My spelling is often sadly lacking. My English expression, fortunately, is not ... but yes, I/we all make slips of grammar and the like occasionally. (Maybe you don't.) Luckily there are people like you on Wikipedia who are excellent at spotting such errors and at putting them right. I truly value the input of people who see things that pass me by. Luckily some observant person swooped on "payed" immediately, because I might not have noticed it at all. However, while I admire your abilities such as precision and dedication, I must advise that it is generally considered more effective (and certainly more polite) to make spot corrections to minor problems of spelling and grammar, rather than blanket reversals which destroy otherwise pertinent edits.

'Exotic'

"Please, if you are questioning a usage, do so on the Talk page. Don't put strange marks in the article itself" - I am afraid I have no idea what you are referring to. Please indicate. The only time I remember using 'exotic' is in Variations of ordinaries

Mich Taylor (talk) 21:08, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

exotic - So; I have no idea what 'an exotic nationality' is, but I think the remark is objectionable so I put in a mark to show that; no discussion needed - and no one else has shown any interest! I was not questioning a usage but publicly condemning it. If people put in general statements then they need to exemplify it - and the only 'nationalities' I am terribly aware of in terms of heraldic heads are 'moor' 'blackamoor' and 'Saracen' - none of which are nationalities anyway and hardly exotic (except to people of very strange inclinations). I guess some Hungarian coats have odd heads being cut off tho' I am not quite sure whose. A pretty feeble piece anyway. No examples and surprisingly for heraldry no pictures - just unexmplified waffle!

"I see others took issue with some of your, in parts POV statements and reverted the whole edit but for this bit)" So? (What is POV? I have no idea - some of us are ordinary people and aren't great on acronyms)

One thing I am pretty sure of is that you can't be neutral about racism - the pillar with the green capital doesn't apply because anti-racism is not a single point of view.

File source problem with File:LiloHerrmann.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:LiloHerrmann.jpg.

You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:27, 3 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 17:27, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Stefansson Island

Hi friend, I think a while ago you added to Stefansson Island that its highest peak is 290 meters. Can you still find the source? In the Atlas of Canada (map scale 1:40 000) I can't find a greater height than 267 meters. Greetings,--Ratzer (talk) 21:18, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm afraid that was almost five years ago, and I now have no idea where the information came from. Sorry.Kelisi (talk) 23:20, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
I went ahead and changed the undocumented 290 meters to documented 267 meters. Thank you and greetings,--Ratzer (talk) 06:59, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Meatballs (film)

Have you ever heard of assuming good faith? In other words, not jumping off the handle and leaving a message akin to the one you left me, in which you make asinine assumptions about my knowledge and my motivations, cast aspersions, and otherwise display a belligerent and insulting tone, which, quite frankly, I do not appreciate and will not tolerate. However, since you have decided to open our communications in this manner, allow me to reply in kind.

Since you have clearly examined the article history, you must have noticed that I have edited the article exactly 6 times in the last year-and-a-half, mostly to revert vandalism or remove irrelevant information. Last May, I copy-edited the plot section in order to remove ridiculous and inappropriate wording, and, in those edits, I did not change one single bit of "Commonwealth spelling," and yet, you reverted my edits with the edit summary "Reverting to last unbutchered version." I then reverted you. On 8 July, you substantially edited the article with a, to say the least, inaccurate edit summary of "Americanization is NOT NECESSARY," even though the majority of your edits had nothing to do with fixing the spelling to Commonwealth standards. Over the course of the month of July, there were numerous anon. edits which were, as anon. edits usually are, unhelpful, including unnecessary changes to the plot, something anonymous editors love to do, while offering no edit summaries to explain their changes. On 2 August, you reverted, with an edit summary of "Reverting anon users' edits, and folks, Americanization is STILL not necessary. Cut it out. It's against policy." There then followed two more anon. edits in August, in which the spelling was altered, again, with no edit summary. You reverted. There then followed your reversion of the good faith edits by Collinf, who was most likely merely ignorant of the differences in English spelling between the United States and England/the Commonwealth. But, I am sure that your message, as understanding and respectful as it was, set him straight. Pause to consider that he had edited the article in question only once before, and it was not to change the spelling. I did not edit the article again until 26 December, to copy-edit the plot, and, yes, in those edits, I did change some Commonwealth spelling. Mea culpa. I forgot that it was a Canadian film. However, if you pay attention to the diff. I have provided, you will see that it was the anon. editor who preceded me who made the majority of those spelling changes, and I only changed the couple that he missed. For the most part, my edits were cosmetic, and fixes to grammar: "Wheels and A.L. ... successfully rekindle their relationship..." rather than "rekindles their relationship," which, even in Canada, is incorrect. My next edit was on 11 January, to revert an inappropriate ext. link. In your most recent edit, you simply reinstated some unnecessary language along with your spelling changes, which could have been fixed without a revert. But, I guess you know best, or at least, that is the attitude you evince.

So, congrats! You're a contender for my editor-of-the-month award. Winners will be announced soon. Keep working on that winning personality. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 02:14, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:MysteriousGreyStripe.png

Thanks for uploading File:MysteriousGreyStripe.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

File:MysteriousGreyStripe.png needs authorship information.

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:MysteriousGreyStripe.png appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|Kelisi/Archive 2}} will produce an appropriate expansion,

or the {{own}} template..

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 07:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Klausing3.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Klausing3.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Kuranda Scenic Railway photo gallery

If you check WP:IG you will notice that galleries are used when the images illustrate aspects of a subject that cannot be easily or adequately described by text or individual images. This means the gallery can't stay. It doesn't provide unique knowledge on the railway. Random collections of image do not belong on Wikipedia, in this case mountain scenery and unremarkable views from trains. As the text expands towards completion more photos can be added without looking over-balanced as it is with a bunch of photos tacked on the end of an article. They belong on the Commons and are to be linked at the bottom of our pages. I'd be surprised if you find a GA, A or FA class railway article with a gallery section. Please make sure you are aware of our policies if you are going to repeatedly revert edits. - Shiftchange (talk) 22:35, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

I was merely reporting what I heard elsewhere in what I thought was a proper source. Lockesdonkey (talk) 04:51, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

A.K.A. stands for "also known as."

In your edit summary to forgery you state that there is no such word as aka. This is an acronym for "also known as." English can be tricky. --Andrewaskew (talk) 03:42, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

I disagree with your assesment as to the formality level of this word. (Incidentally it is not an "unword," there is no such thing, it is a preposition.) I have never personally read a teen 'zine, but I have encountered this in both legal texts and academe.
Well, whoever said that lawyers and professors could write? Kelisi (talk) 04:31, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
I believe both lawyers and professors have said that they can write. And we can believe them, they're experts.
I didn't mean to imply that you believe in unwords. I can, in fact, sympathise. I personally have been fighting a war against shotty myself. I just happen to disagree on aka. --Andrewaskew (talk) 05:43, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Are always supported by a friend: Rei Momo, that if you can introduce yourself, speak French well, a little better than me...although I confess I preferred to write in my shaky, inaudible even English, this is because even if a stammering tongue, or is talking to fatigue or almost a language, I still like to try to speak the language of my partner also to improve my pronunciation and writing of the language itself. So I ask your pardon, if I have made a few grammatical errors.--Lodewijk Vadacchino (talk) 04:03, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Problem with "Africville" article

Sorry for the lack of an answer to your question; a security issue was involved. Specifically, the edit summary parsing code was open to abuse by spammers and vandals, who could prevent recent changes, watchlists, and article histories from loading. I submitted a patch to fix the bug in the code, and this patch is part of the latest security releases of MediaWiki. You should no longer encounter this issue on Wikipedia or any other Wikimedia site.

In case you are wondering, the problematic edit was revision #360541408, and information about the bug is available in the release announcement, T43400, and the previously reported T40566. Thanks for reporting the problem. PleaseStand (talk) 02:54, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Brass knuckles

Yeah, after putting the tag, I noticed that it was listed in some dictionaries, and Wikipedia is about verifiability, not truth. Still, the truth is that coup de poing américain seems to have gone the way of the information superhighway: the common use term has changed in favor of something shorter. But don't worry, I won't tag again.--137.122.49.102 (talk) 16:44, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Please Consider Da Following

I have reason to believe you used a "no-no" word on the Wikipedia Sandbox. Wikipedia is not censored, but please assume good faith. Sorry if the message was offensive towards Canadians, that part was a complete joke and had no serious intention in it. I am a loving panda, and should be careful on what I say, and so should you. --DPandaOPande (talk) 18:55, 21 January 2013 (UTC)DPandaOPande

I have considered it and the only question that it raises in my mind is: "Who on earth would bother patrolling the sandbox, for Pete's sake?!" Kelisi (talk) 21:09, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi! I was just checking out your talk page after reading the note you left me on my talk page for an edit I made to the Wikipedia Sandbox a while ago. My first thought was "Who on earth would bother patrolling the sandbox, for Celestia's sake?!". :P The Great and Powerful Trixie (talk) 06:43, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
