Bhopal gas disaster - am I reliable? edit

I have been engaged in the follow-up of the Bhopal Disaster, India 1984. In 1994, I was a member of the International Medical Commission on Bhopal, 1994. I am medical advisor at Sambhavna Trust Clinic. Between 1994 and 2010 I visited Bhopal at least once a year.

My essay for MPH 2001 "Chemical Industry and Public Health - Bhopal as an example" (PDF). is a short overview for the period 1960s to 2000. (57 pages, 82 references)

In 2004, I published the book "The Bhopal Saga - Causes and Consequences of the World's Largest Industrial Disaster". I have systematized all known facts between the 1960s and 2003, and I have tried to be as neutral as possible. (283 pages, over 200 references.)

In 2011 and 2013, my contributions to the big publisher Elsevier were published Bhopal Gas Catastrophe 1984: Causes and Consequences. It seems like Elsevier think I am reliable as they asked me to write the Bhopal chapter.

When I started to clean up the Bhopal article in Wikipedia, it was natural that I used The Bhopal Saga as the main reference, as it is based on 200 references. I have been keen on always, when possible, refer to material from UC and the governments of India and Madhya Pradesh, also to keep to material that I think is reliable. But many others added non-reliable references, from media.

I also sorted all material, in books and reports, journal articles and academic papers, governmental institutions, UC, Dow and mixed. But most of it was deleted during the big revision in August 2012, in order to form the site to a Good Article. But it was not approved anyhow!

Some day I might put it back again. To have much high quality material gives the readers chances to find out more themselves and form their own opinion. That was my goal with this article.

I am very happy that I am in January 2009 was rewarded the Indian Barnstar of National Merit.

Banned from India edit

Since 2008, I have had difficulties to get visa to India. In January, 2011, I was sent back by return flight, in spite of a valid visa. I have sent a lot of letters to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and the Ambassador. But these are totally neglected! No answers at all. Not until I was invited to my "granddaughters" wedding in 2016, when the ambassador was kind enough to take me away from the black list. Since then, I have had no difficulties to travel to India.

In 2008, I retired from the Population Health Unit in Nacka.
