Your bot has it wrong here. Regards, Mr Stephen (talk) 14:13, 12 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the notification. The reason, I'm sure, would be that, as the image contains ISBN code, it has been "auto-corrected" as such. I'll add it to the exceptions so it shouldn't do it for any more file names.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  01:44, 13 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Help Survey

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,

I like the new version better! The old one can be deleted! Canihuan300 (talk) 20:07, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

It will be, after 7 days of being tagged, I think, unless you tag it for deletion yourself as the uploader, after which it could be deleted immediately by an administrator.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  22:53, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I changed my mind. I will delete the old one and upload a new one to replace the other new one. Canihuan300 (talk) 23:13, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I need some help

Tmi1080 (talk) 20:09, 19 June 2012 (UTC) Hi SJ I'm new here and I need help with editing because theres nothing to edit and I've had a rough start just like on Community Central and I'm wondering is wikipedia connected to Wikia? Just wondering and can I have a bot because if I get one I'll call it the Whomp BotReply

Hello, Tmi1080. Welcome to the English Wikipedia! Firstly, the only connection that Wikipedia and Wikia share (as far as I know) is the founder: Wikipedia's founder is on of Wikia's co-founders. Otherwise, they are different. As for you having a bot, we have a bot policy governing that things (see this as well. In addition, the username of your bot must identify the owner or its task.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  20:50, 19 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tmi1080 (talk) 20:52, 22 June 2012 (UTC) Okay then I,ll call the bot the Tmi bot if I can get a bot but the task would be is to assist other bots in need of help or to assist your bot maybeReply

That username sounds more reasonable for the bot, but the task is too questionable. When making bot requests for approval, you must be specific about the task your bot will do. What exactly do you refer to when you say "other bots in need of help", because they generally analyze whether more bots are needed to do the task or not. One of my bot's task, for instance, tags files and notifies the uploaders about their orphaned non-free use files, and this is started almost one hour after the page with the report is updated. The bot does all of that automatically, and the last run was 22 minutes, 35 seconds according to the log, tagging 69 files and notifying 53 users (122 edits in all). This is an example of a task that requires no additional bots to work on.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  23:59, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tmi1080 (talk) 02:51, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Ok then I'm thinking about the task as finding any vandalism and then it contacts any administrator online so the vandal doesn't get away with it how about that? Does that sound good?Reply

User:ClueBot NG is our anti-vandal bot, and it reverts, warns and reports already.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  02:52, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tmi1080 (talk) 02:59, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Oh okay how about a bot that deletes any unneeded articles?Reply

That bot would need to be an administrator (so would you), but we already have a bot that does some deletions (G7 and U1 I think). Please direct your efforts in understanding the wiki more before thinking of running a bot.  Hazard-SJ  ✈  03:24, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

19:18, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Well it looks like I can't find any more ideas so I guess I'll have to abandon the idea of having a bot — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tmi1080 (talkcontribs)

Proposed Edit to "Pretender" Article

By way of introduction, I am User:Brendan_Oisin, a relative newcomer to Wikipedia (WP). I respectfully request your guidance.

This is intended to initiate suggestion for a change to an article with which I believe you are associated - "Pretender" (and, more specifically, its section of "List of current pretenders"). Within that list, my suggestion pertains to the Ireland sub-section, and the addition of Liam Trant MacCarthy Mór, Prince of Desmond, to the current listing of pretenders to Gaelic-Irish historic monarchies.

Rather than make the direct edit to the article _first_, I have prepared the proposed change on my User Sandbox, where I can also present notes and references to help support the basis for this proposed addition to the list, and to provide a venue for any questions and/or discussion that might be required _before_ such an edit might be accepted or contested.

If this approach is agreeable to you, please see what I propose at User:Brendan_Oisin/sandbox . Please indicate, on my Talk page, whether you feel my proposed edit is acceptable as it is, or what might be required to make it so. Of course, I will be pleased to respond to any questions, or need for further information, you may have. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy.

Respectfully Yours, Brendan Oisin (talk) 00:14, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Help Please

I created the article Liz & Dick and I've noticed many changes that are being made I do not agree with. I can no longer undo people's edits, and it says that I must do them "manually." I don't know what this means. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, the picture that was removed I agree with the information you put on my page. I would like to try to find a photo like other films have.

Hazardbot tagging File:CastleHillHighLogo.jpg as orphanned, it isn't?

G'day Hazard. I think your bot might be malfunctioning. It tagged the above linked file as being orphaned when it is still in use in the intended article, Castle Hill High School. Could you take a look for me if there's something amiss somewhere (either in what I've done or in what the bot's doing)? Cheers. ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 04:09, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, could you please help me? I have uploaded the same image at Wikipedia and at Wikimedia Commons. Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:College Of Westchester Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Page Triage newsletter

Hey all. Some quick but important updates on what we've been up to and what's coming up next :).

The curation toolbar, our Wikimedia-supported twinkle replacement. We're going to be deploying it, along with a pile of bugfixes, to wikipedia on 9 August. After a few days to check it doesn't make anything explode or die, we'll be sticking up a big notice and sending out an additional newsletter inviting people to test it out and give us feedback :). This will be followed by two office hours sessions - one on Tuesday the 14th of August at 19:00 UTC for all us Europeans, and one on Wednesday the 15th at 23:00 UTC for the East Coasters out there :). As always, these will be held in #wikimedia-office; drop me a note if you want to know how to easily get on IRC, or if you aren't able to attend but would like the logs.

I hope to see a lot of you there; it's going to be a big day for everyone involved, I think :). I'll have more notes after the deployment! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 19:55, 3 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

New Pages newsletter

Hey all :)

A couple of new things.

First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.

On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right. It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). We'll be holding two office hours sessions to discuss the tool and improvements to it; the first is at 19:00 UTC on 14 August, and the second at 23:00 on the 15th. Both will be in #wikimedia-office as always. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 16:00, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned Image?

What happened to the page that the Hoodwinked image (noted on my talk page) was on? (Please comment here, I'll be keeping the page open and no talkback template is necessary.) CycloneGU (talk) 05:09, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Now that I'm awake I did some research...found that the soundtrack info was merged with the movie article. A fair use rationale did get created at some point for the new article, but some sloppy cleanup work because the person in question forgot to put the image in the infobox. Since that infobox already existed, I went ahead and simply added the image and untagged. Problem should be solved. CycloneGU (talk) 13:14, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notifying of your non-free image upload

Hello. I accidentally uploaded the CARTA (Center for Academic Research and Training in Anthropogeny) logo a second time after waiting a few minutes for the first image to appear. When nothing happened, I assumed that something went wrong with the upload. I should have waited a little longer, because the first upload did eventually appear. The second upload is now listed as a duplicate image in the file history. Is that the 'orphaned file' that you have tagged for deletion? If so, that's fine with me. Please let me know if that's the file that will be deleted after September 22nd. Thanks.

Adopt-a-user

Hi Hazard-SJ. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.

If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.

If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui  09:04, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hazard-SJ. Thanks for agreeing to stay on at Adopt-a-user. I've recently updated the list of adopters and I have included you, per your original comments on that page and your comments at User:Yunshui/Overhaul/Adopters staying on. You can see your new profile at the list of adopters. Why not update your profile with an image and maybe have another look at your description? You can also include a list of any adoptees you currently have. If you are also willing to mentor problematic users, possibly as part of a conditional unblock, please include "mentorship=yes" in your profile. Thanks again for all your help.
