HM Queen Camilla? edit

What are your personal views: Do you think she will become queen someday? Do you want her to? --Cameron* 08:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would say, all things being well, yes twice. Apologies for brevity; elaboration to follow when I have internets again! DBD 16:28, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wonderful, that's two right answers! = ) --Cameron* 21:21, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dukes edit

Hey DBD... wondering if you could take a look at Dukes in the United Kingdom and Royal Dukedoms in the United Kingdom? I started work on getting the first up to par last night; split out the latter into its own article. Also, sorry for not replying, no word yet from BP. Prince of Canada t | c 22:19, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're fast.. I'll keep plugging away at this. The Royal Dukes article especially needs a lot of pruning work. Thank you especially for the clarification of Royal Duke's coronets--I had felt something was off about that but couldn't figure out why. Prince of Canada t | c 23:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image renaming edit

Hi DBD, good to hear from you. Nope, I'm afraid there's no simple way to do this (as far as I know). What I'll do is upload the images to the Commons under the new names, and then change the links on the Projects on which they're used. Then I'll get an admin there to delete the redundant images. Hope that helps. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 23:50, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

All done, and the duplicates have been deleted. :) Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 01:23, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Phil edit

By my reading, I'd see 'HRH The' as a style with Prince as the title. So.. the former shouldn't be in the lead, the latter can & should. Prince of Canada t | c 19:06, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Styles and titles from birth edit

{{oldprodfull}} and {{CurrentYYYYMMDD}} edit

Hi. I have a question regarding {{CurrentYYYYMMDD}}. Please see this page/section. That page/section also links to two other related sections.--Rockfang (talk) 02:36, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Logo BRoy edit

Hiya.. I hope you don't think I'm treading on your toes here, I was just fiddling around with something else today and it ended up happening. Prince of Canada t | c 22:37, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ouch, my toes(!) Ha-HA! (as in with a flourish, not with derision) DBD 23:36, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would beat a hasty retreat after that display of lovely graphics, but... Boston Common. So there. (In all seriousness, I like the 'R' and the 50% screen on the UJ and the SE crown, but the overall layout leaves something to be desired; I like asymmetry but that just seems lopsided and off in the vertical plane. Also, not a fan of purple.. Perhaps if you located the 'wikiproject' below the logo, and arranged it so that it's the same width and the shade of blue in the UJ? Just a thought.) Prince of Canada t | c 23:57, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
How does this look to you?   Prince of Canada t | c 00:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
(Ah! Edit conflict!) Cheers mate. I've done tweaks a bit like your suggestions. Time for bed for me! I'll catch your comments on the other side. Also, lucky I read your post in the diffs page (i.e. in wiki-markup), cus I'd've had no idea what you meant by Boston Common... DBD 00:26, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
And that looks fine, so... V3 DBD 00:26, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Although... British Airways? DBD 00:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Scratch that. But it's reminiscent of something's logo... DBD 00:30, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure I like the mirroring (countercharging?) of the colours; it invites too much visual movement. Prince of Canada t | c 00:43, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
A view side by side. Hmm. Prince of Canada t | c 04:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Adding.. when seen side by side and miniaturized (an excellent test for logos, as it distills them down to gross recognition), yours is more clear to view while ambivalent on what it refers to, while mine conveys the 'British' more but is less clear in terms of message & wordmark. English Royalty WikiProject edit

I noticed BRoy list English royalty as a possible further WikiProject. Are you interested in starting it? I've been considering it for a while now...and just recently after trying to get List of English monarchs featured, it struck me again that we really need such a project. Any ideas/suggestions...? Regards, --Cameron* 09:47, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much. I designed and coordinate WP:COMMONWEALTH WP:ENGROY on BROY for obvious reasons. You blessing and help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, --Cameron* 21:06, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
PS: I see Broy has "that colour coded article thingy". I would be so greatful for any help on how to work them! I am also having problems making the wikiproject banner. I have made simple ones before but we ideally need one that includes the status of the article, like the Broy one does. --Cameron* 21:31, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Camilla edit

Clearly I had a brainfart. Prince of Canada t | c 08:19, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

S'alright mate, we all do. DBD 09:02, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Categories edit

Please create categories before you add them to articles or other categories. I'm also a little puzzled as to how your new Category:Monarchs of England will fit in with the existing Category:English monarchs. Do you intend to propose the cat for renaming? If so, you should certainly not move things to a new cat until the discussion is completed. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:31, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I was just moving everything into the new categories then removing the old cat from its parent cats and adding those to the new. Is it really going to be necessary to do the whole bureaucracy thing? DBD 12:35, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes. You can't just create a new cat which duplicates an old cat because you don't like the name of the old one. It does need to be discussed. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:32, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blackadder Goes Forth gongs edit

I don't know who originally added the postnominals to the template, but I changed them based on observation of the medal ribbons the characters actually wear in the series: see Talk:Captain Blackadder#Captain Blackadder, MC?. As the postnominals aren't in the credits perhaps they shouldn't be there at all. Opera hat (talk) 10:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
