Chaser, since you seem to have adopted Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles, perhaps you could give him some further guidance with regard to participation in AfD discussions. His contributions here and, especially, here are so far off topic that they would be risible if they did not seem purposely designed to confuse the discussion. (Unfortunatlely, since the latter article has been deleted, the utter irrelevance of the links he added to the article is not readily seen.) I'm willing to believe that Roi is acting in good faith, but he needs some help in keeping his enthusiastic inclusionism within reasonable bounds. Deor 19:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi Deor, my suggestion with the Molecular static article was and is that, because scholarly scientific sources in journal articles exist it should be revised to cover the scientific stuff that we do have reliable sources for. I agreed that it was hard to find references for the charmed stuff, but my suggestion was merely that we use the science articles to create a new article of the same name, something Jay32183 agreed with: "If there's an actual scientific concept with the same name it could get an article. It shouldn't be written on top of this article. If this article is kept then it should be moved to Molecular Static (Charmed) and give the science article this spot. You can move this article there now if you wish. Moving this article won't affect this debate or the science article though." Regarding the song discussion, once I saw your reply that its a duplicate article, I responded to you that in that case a merge/redirect would be appropriate. I don't believe I was addressing you, GR, but I'll respond anyway (with apologies to Chaser). None of the sources you cited with respect to Molecular Static used the term "molecular static" or referred to any such concept; in them, static was used as an adjective, not a noun, and the adjective molecular modified some word other than static. Seizing on Google results for concatenations of words that you don't understand, and then using those results to add irrelevant links to articles, is perhaps not the best way to contribute to the building of an encyclopedia. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/I_Bet_You_Look_Good_On_The_Dancefloor_(song). Le Grand simply voted keep, even though he didn't even bother to read the nomination note which clearly explained things. The article in AFD is a duplicate of another, and so it makes sense to remove one (or redirect at the least). AFD comments like that one, make me believe Le Grand doesn't read the article or pay much attention to the nomination note. I'm growing tired of this behaviour. I don't see how anyone can miss the note, unless they simply just skip it and go to edit right away...and vote keep. In this case: I think that's what Le Grand did. Rob, please stop misrepresenting things. I didn't see the original article until a fellow editor provided an internal link to it. The nomination just said "two articles" without listing the other one. Once I read that link by Deor indicating where the original article was, I then changed my position. Claiming that I don't "read the article" is again unfair and inaccurate, considering that I edited the article four times! I'm more than happy to edit with you on friendly terms and if there's anything you feel we can work on to cool things between us, that's fine, but Chaser suggested we avoid each other and I don't understand why you haven't extended me the same courtesy after he made that suggestion? I have not posted in anything you have today (aside from replying to this false representation of things), please do the same for me. Move protection of FAs - edit summaries

I was confused for a while by this. I've been looking through your logs, and I now see that some of them say "move protection". Presumably you are carrying out the guidance at Wikipedia:Main Page featured article protection#Move protection? I think the "move=sysop" bit indicates this, but do you think you could make the protection summary a bit more informative? At first glance, what someone sees is "protected Orion (mythology)" - and I thought, "hang on, that's not right". Ideally, the edit summary would say "move protected Orion (mythology)". being bullied and accused of sock puppeting

User:Inetpup has been bullying me for the past few days. Worst of all she leaves insults on my discussion page, claiming I'm a sock puppet and a "dubious user". The damage is done. People will look at my history and wonder if its true, even though the accusation is totally false. This all started because I rightfully deleted an edit he/she made in Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The reason I'm writing to you is because you already warned her about making false accusations just a few weeks ago. Maybe you should issue a sterner warning or outright block this person?

I had to take a while to think over my response, but I realized that it's contingent on where the dispute is occurring. It might technically be sockpuppetry, but many users sometimes accidentally edit while not logged in. this edit shows that Graham probably is the same as the IP. I don't see anything actionable, and I don't see any reason to impugn Graham's reputation because he sometimes edits from an IP and sometimes from his account. It's explained in Wikipedia:Protection policy. Move-protection protects a page against page moves. For example, non-sysops cannot move WP:AIV, but they can edit it.--chaser - t 04:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: Fred Bauder

I do not understand the suggestion to post my complaint on Fred Bauder's talk page. What will that accomplish? I interpret that to mean that there is nothing to do and that arbitrators can do what they want. I did post on Fred Bauder's talk page at the time of his vote, even though the other parties named in the arbitration did not want me to out of fear of retribution from Fred Bauder. His answer was that his vote was perfectly appropriate as, even though the article was a subject of the open arbitraion on the COI and self-promotion issues of Rosencomet, he felt the article by Rosencomet on himself was a good article.

Most recent approach to discussions and articles

Dear Chaser, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/99 Ways to Die (song). I came upon a discussion with all deletes, but then did a search on the article and found that in its previous version the article did not contain much, but after some quick research, I was able to expand and clean up the article by adding references from The New York Times and Time and expanding its notability by discovering that in addition to appearing on two albums the song is a Grammy nominee: [11], [12], [13], [14]. Green Kirby Request For Adminship

There is a frequent contributor to mainly the talk page of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He is only 13 years old and often makes forum-like discussions, then gets angry when they're deleted. Well recently he added himself to become a manager, and obviously didn't do it right. Hello, sir. I'm not certain what you're referring to, so if you could clarify your concern, I would appreciate it. Besides writing articles, my goal as a member of the Wikipedia community is to encourage contributors and resolve problems. Green Kirby has been getting some grief lately about using the site as a discussion forum, but I don't see why that would affect his judgment.

He came onto my user page and removed the userbox that states I'm gay and I wished I had a boyfriend; stating they "weren't necessary and that he didn't want other gay users to feel 'turned on'". Well, sir. It's more than that. It's the fact that your son came onto my user page (which is not an actual article people look to for information and edit) and removed items I put on there. He has no business editing my user page. That is my own page that I may put whatever I wish on it, as long as it is not overly offensive. I did not tell chaser to block your son. I asked chaser, as his mentor, to get him under control. That meant he could do anything, talk to him and explain why not to do that. No, he decided the best course of action would be to block him. We have all moved on, he has been unblocked, and I have wished your son luck in becoming a better editor. I suggest you do the same. "Unsolicited" sounds as if Sukecchi came to your son and told him he was gay. In fact, the relevant userbox sat in his userspace along with such uncontroversial personal information as his being male and what state he lives in. It's common on this site that editors declare facets of their individuality to build a sense of community that creates another incentive for us to be here and work on articles, just as workers everywhere chat around the water cooler and companies tolerate some slacking off as long as the work gets done. We have different standards on a volunteer site, but indicating someone declaring his sexual orientation will make others "feel turned on" is creation of unnecessary drama.--chaser - t 00:09, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Sir, you most likely won't be able to respond right now, but lemme add my comment in. One of Wikipedia's most stressed rules for articles is a neutral point of view. Obviously you don't believe the gay people should be able to express theirselves on their own pages, but they choose to do it anyway. This has been common practice for almost all of Wikipedia users on their own user page, to put things they like and put what they are. If the person is gay, or if he defecates on babies like you said, let him be. If you don't agree with what the person is, then just ignore it. Just don't vandalise their page with your opinions. That is not providing a neutral point of view.

When updating DYK...

Make sure that you post all templates to their respective pages, and add the articles to Wikipedia:Recent additions. You didn't do these step after updating, so this caused a bit of trouble. Just pointing it out for next time. Wizardman 15:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Sockpuppet ahoy

I noted this on his userpage a while back, and he eventually returned to remove it, but not complain, etc. This makes me more certain still. I have since readded it. I am not sure what the procedure is, and maybe the evidence of his edits is not enough, but I guess tag him or something, or tell someone else to. NYC meetup change of schedule

General questions

Hello! Do you have any feedback regarding this discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Television series considered the greatest ever (2nd nomination). The one thing that struck me there was the impression that I ignored this discussion, when in fact, I thought my short, but polite replies on my talk page indicated that I read and acknowledged in a friendly manner the suggestion left there and then on the AfD linked to above I made three reasons as to why I thought the article should be kept: 1) the previous AfD was less than six months ago (yes, consensus can change, but I have seen other editors argue that some of these renominations are occuring too closely after old discussions; 2) the article has references and is therefore verifiable; and 3) the article satisfies the guideline Wikipedia:Lists by being coherently organized. Anyway, I was just curious of your thoughts if those seemed reasonable and if my replies were reasonable as well. On a positive note, I received another Barnstar today for my expansion and sourcing of the Armenian Genocide article! I hope all is well with you. Hi, I recently edited a article on El Al that you rightly unedited, I think you sent me the message "lol" im sorry I didnt reply, im new to wikipedia and didnt know how. I wasnt vandalising or anything I just thought the article was a farce, In my opinion there is a blatant misuse of the term humanitarian, there is nothing human about selectively helping people who are only in your caste or creed, I see that as racism. However I wasnt prepared to get into an online debate with Jewish "nationalists" over an article, having had previous experience of attempting that. Anyway I just wanted to clarify the reasons behind my scrupulous editing because I appreciate the good work you people do to clean such rubbish up.
