Background edit

Sparikhin was born in 1963. He was reported to have been prone to aggression and sadistic behavior since childhood. In 2001, one of his relatives was imprisoned for the murder of two or more people, including a child.[2]

Crimes edit

Sparikhin received his first prison sentence at age 14, after his release he murdered a neighbor named Nadezhda in 1980. She was last seen by relatives leaving home to go for a walk with a can of moonshine, and was later found beaten to death and unrecognizable. Sparikhin was arrested and given a ten-year sentence. Three years were added to his sentence after he stole from a stall in prison.[2] After his release, he continued to commit various crimes, such as embezzlement and rape.[1]

In 2000, Sparikhin killed two young girls and spent 20 years in prison for the crime, being released on 19 June 2020. On 14 August, in Novorossiysk, he approached a 34-year-old woman in a courtyard and threatened her at knifepoint, leading her to a nearby car where he raped her. He drove the woman around the city until that night when he pulled over in a deserted area, raped her again and left her. The woman reported the incident to police, leading to Sparikhin being detained on 17 August. He escaped and was put on the federal wanted list.[3] During a rape and car robbery after his escape, he killed a 40-year-old woman in Krasnodar.[2] On 20 August, he refused to stop for traffic police and led them on a chase. Sparikhin eventually crashed and was detained.[3]

Imprisonment edit

On 16 June 2021, while walking around the prison yard in the pre-trial detention center in Krasnodar, Sparikhin attacked a prison inspector with a homemade weapon, the inspector was left with an abrasion on his nose, he then attacked another prison employee in a stairwell, wounding his eye. Sparikhin was charged for the prison attacks and admitted guilt.[4][5] In 2022, he received an additional nine years to his life sentence for the incident, which is being served at a special regime colony.[1]
