Yamil Andrés Ethit Romero (Santa Cruz, Chile, August 21, 1981) is a Chilean lawyer and politician, who served as governor of the province of Colchagua between 2018 and 2020.[1] In 2021, he was elected as the Core for Colchagua and took office on March 11, 2022.

Biography

Born in Santa Cruz, Ethit comes from a family of merchants and is of Palestinian-Arab descent.[2] He completed his law degree at Universidad Internacional SEK and is now married with two children.[3]

He worked in the Victims of Violent Crime Unit of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security.[3]

In the municipal sector, he was legal advisor to the Municipality of Nancagua and Chépica.[3] Additionally, he served as a leader of sports clubs for several years.[3] On March 11, 2018, he took office as governor of the province of Colchagua, appointed by President Sebastián Piñera.[4] However, on November 20, 2020, he effectively resigned from his position as governor in order to be legally eligible for the parliamentary elections of 2021.[5]
