Bill Drummond on the subject of Wikipedia (highlighting the dangers of the 'circular reference') edit

I stumbled on this gem while checking whether Drummond's bibliography is up to date:

Drummond, Bill (2012). 100. Penkiln Burn. ISBN 978-0954165666. In interviews it seemed as if I was always being asked a variant of the same four questions. Thus had my polished stock answers to give.... I always had a pretty clear idea how these interviews would end up once they were published. The first half of the feature would be a précis of my career to date. In recent years this has often been lifted from the Bill Drummond page at Wikipedia, factual errors included.

This just goes to show how easy it can be to introduce a "circular reference", that is a citation to an article or book for a 'fact' they lifted from Wikipedia in the first place :)

[Alas, the book was a limited print run and all copies have sold out so I won't be getting one.] --kingboyk (talk) 21:24, 14 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
