Issues to discuss after GA review

Hi All,

I'm in the middle of a GA review for 2017 UK Championship, and a few issues have arrised that I think we need to discuss.

  • Flagicons for century counts

These are very OTT, and considering we already denote flags for players in the results table, and elsewhere, I'm not sure it's viable. I'm not sure it actually breaks the MOS on flags, but I think we could do without them. Seems to be little redeming these, but I'd like some more comments.

  • "best of X frames" vs "best-of-X-frames".

MOS:HYPHEN doesn't seem to be a fit for either to me.

Let me know if you have any opinions 12:58, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

1, The flags in this section ought to go. We never used to have them anyway. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2010_World_Snooker_Championship&oldid=769674702 from March 2017. Some editors seem of the view that every mention of a person should have a flag in front. Actually there is no need. 2. In the text I prefer "best-of-9-frame match" (or whatever) but in the table I think I prefer it without the hyphens. No big deal for me. 3. Yes. Div col is much better. Greetings all, saw this discussion listed at WT:MOS. 1: I'm in agreement that the flags are probably not needed. The MOS guidance says do not emphasize nationality without good reason, and it doesn't sound like we have a particularly good one here. I see they've already been removed, and comparing that to the old version, I think this is cleaner. 2: best-of-X-frames match is correct, as best-of-X-frames is a compound modifier of match (the example given there is heavy metal detector vs. heavy-metal detector). However, in the tables, best of x frames is fine, as it is just a phrase and isn't modifying anything. 3. Agreed with div col as well. Again, comparing the old century listing to the new one, I think this is an improvement. CThomas3 (talk) 18:07, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
