Helping review + re-publish women's international footballer articles

There are currently over 1,900 articles (mostly stub articles about international women's footballers who participated at the Olympics, World Cup or other international competitions that need review and re-publishing once references are confirmed. The deadline for this is April 24, 2017. Background information is available here: User:Aymatth2/SvG clean-up/Guidelines.

For those willing to help (any amount helps), the process goes fairly quickly once you get in a rhythm of reviewing and re-publishing. Please see User:Aymatth2/SvG clean-up/Female footballers for the list. The main steps are to:

  1. Open a draft article from the list
  2. Check refs to confirm information in the article and make any copyedits to the article to cleanup
  3. Once confirmed, move the draft to the article mainspace and activate the categories by removing the :
  4. Confirm the article's talk page is tagged with {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Another way to go about this fairly quickly includes going to the squad lists and clicking on any red links to see if there is an article moved to Draft (most likely there are a lot if not all for the red links you see) that can be easily restored. I'll add to the list below as I come across squads that have some of these draft articles available:

Hi everyone, I noticed this interesting article on what is believed to be the first black female footballer. There was a comment in the article about getting a Wikipedia article done, so I thought I would start one. Not finished by a fair way, but she does seem to be a pretty noteworthy individual along the lines of players like Arthur Wharton. I can find some sourcing here that provides some detail on matches played, but if anyone feels like helping out it strikes me as a quite a large hole in the history of women's football that could be filled. Nice work. Thanks! Hmlarson (talk) 16:11, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Popular pages report is back!

Hi all, the Community Tech team has been working hard to bring back the Popular pages report. The report for this project can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Popular pages. I've made a redirect from the older link Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Popular to make the link consistent across projects. If you're not happy with this change and want to stick with the older link (not recommended), please ping me and I will take care of it. Thank you. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 18:43, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
