WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:00, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Template:Infobox Big Brother contestant

I think this template is too limited. What if someone dies? What about where they were born? What about what the person went on to do after leaving Big Brother and all the other important details normally included in an infobox? Surely {{Infobox person}} is better. Involvement with WP:BIGBRO and task forces

Hi editors last year there were several discussions that affected not only the American/British articles but overall Big Brother articles including the UK/USA articles. If possible can we try to have these types of discussions on the main WP:BIGBRO project page and/or the task force pages? It would be nice if we could keep discussions regarding major changes on the task force discussion page and larger discussions to the overall project page. Some editors took offense at these types of discussions being regulated to the then-current season/series articles while some attacked other articles for bringing the project down. Last year with a consensus task forces for two of the largest versions of Big Brother were created (UK task force & USA task force) to handle the respective differences between the two and other versions. If we utilize the project talk page and the respective task force talk page we can collaborate more efficiently and really improve the overall project and avoid the bashing that happened last year. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 10:20, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Copied to Big Brother 2009 (UK), WP:BIGBRO, UK task force, USA task force

Big Brother 11 is now a Good Article!

Posted to Big Brother 12 (U.S.), Ultimate Big Brother and WP:BIGBRO.

Big Brother 11 (U.S.) is now a Good Article, this is the second Big Brother article to become a Good Article since the major revamp in the project's manual of style last year. Big Brother 2009 (UK) was the first to implement such changes and became a Good Article on May 9, 2010 after some work. This is an amazing accomplishment for editors of the articles and of the WP:BIGBRO project as a whole. All editors involved should be very proud of this. If we work now to make Big Brother 12 (U.S.) similar to Big Brother 11 (U.S.) (and make Ultimate Big Brother/Big Brother 2010 similar to Big Brother 2009) we could have more GA Big Brother articles here before the year is over. Also as far as Big Brother USA articles go Big Brother 11 (U.S.) is the first USA article to achieve this honor. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 00:42, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Updates to TV#MOS

I'm not sure how many people monitor WP:MOSTV or even WP:TV (the basic WikiProject for all of us), but we've been trying to get some feedback on additions to the TV Manual of Style. It largely has to do with the inclusion of "Overview" tables at the start of the page, the order in which season lists are presented (currently, there is no concrete order), and what is considered too much info for DVDs (i.e. should we be placing every detail about the box set in the article, from each interview to the aspect ratio, or should be keep it more generalized). Please see discussion at WT:MOSTV#Updates to the MOS. Thank you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:07, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Re-designing the Big Brother infoboxes

I have been thinking about the infoboxes we use for Big Brother articles and I was thinking that we can have an infobox similar to other articles but retain information needed for the articles. We could use Template:Infobox animanga as a good example for an all-in-one infobox.

  • The Header can contain details common to main series articles (ex. Big Brother (U.S.)) and season articles (ex. Big Brother 11 (U.S.)) like Genre, Created By, Presented By, Country of Origin, Production section.
  • A Broadcast component for the main article which includes Original Channel, Picture format, Original Run (start date of the very first season and if canceled end date of very last season), total number of seasons, total number of episodes.
  • A Broadcast component for the individual season articles to be used on articles like Big Brother 2009 (UK) which would include Original Channel, Picture format, Filming location, Original run (date the season started to finale date of the season), Start Date (mainly for the US seasons where the Housemates enter the House 4-6 days prior to the first televised episode).
  • A season component that contains information regarding that season such as Number of episodes for the season, number of days, number of Housemates/HouseGuests, a spot if that season used twists such as rich/poor divides or cliques, and then at least three legends that can indicate if a Housemate from that season participated in another season of Big Brother. (See the Template:Infobox Television Survivor as an example for this component.)
  • A Housemate component that features the function of the Template: Big Brother housemates and Template: Big Brother endgame that lists the Housemates and their enter/exit dates and their status. This should be collapsed at all times.

This is just some of the ideas I have had to create a more detailed infobox and so it can have a more unified look with other Wikipedia infoboxes. By having an infobox that is constructed by sandwiching one or more components between a header and footer would be better than various sidebars for each article and two different season templates. I just need help with the coding because I am not that well experienced with it. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 17:26, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Big Brother articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Big Brother articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Big Brother (Greece)

Any help from members on how to properly format Big Brother (Greece) will be greatly appreciated. It has a long and varied history. (format/name changes, relaunch on dif. channel) I am not sure how to properly format the article, or if the new relaunch is considered a season 5 or not. I did some minor work to it, but I do not know how to format the article correctly. I later discovered this project, and I am hoping someone can help. I am guessing that each season should tech. have it's own page, though there isn't much information present currently, and I have no clue what to do with the naming. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Greekboy (talk) 06:24, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject cleanup listing

I have created together with Smallman12q a toolserver tool that shows a weekly-updated list of cleanup categories for WikiProjects, that can be used as a replacement for WolterBot and this WikiProject is among those that are already included (because it is a member of Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions). See the tool's wiki page, this project's listing in one big table or by categories and the index of WikiProjects. Svick (talk) 20:56, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
