I'm not sure what you may exactly mean but guess I was thinking in simmilar lines: something like moving it to an archive page of that portal's discussion page (or the Wikiproject's one). Keep it as historical reference.

Formatting

This may be stating the obvious, but for a portal the format should probably be more like:

Roman period

• Tribes: Aquitani · Vascones · Varduli · Caristii · Autrigones
• Cities: Pompaelo · Lapurdum · Oiasso · Iruña-Veleia
