I saw you asked for this interesting page to be proofread on the help desk, so:

  • In the spellchecking section, there is a live spellchecker; (it spellchecks the recent changes) User:Lupin/Anti-vandal tool (which you have further down the page)
  • You should link the individual entries in the section "Searching Wikipedia from the internet"
  • I think the signatures section should be expanded to be more understandable (like tell them to tick raw signature and link to WP:SIG)

I understand this page is still under construction but it already looks really helpful, not just for new users. Good job. James086Talk | Contribs 13:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

You may want to consider whether the 'scripts' link should go to Wikipedia:Scripts or Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts (the link you have currently is mostly about IRC scripts; it's quite possible that it's user scripts that you meant). --ais523 13:28, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I saw this page linked on the help desk. I've proofed it (a couple of spelling errors and a bit of punctuation) as requested. I understand it's not finished yet; please leave a note on my talk page if you'd like me to proof it again when you're done. It's very understandable, and looks as if it's going to be really helpful - good job! Squeezeweasel 15:02, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the help. And yes, I will gladly take you up on your offer of further assistance! The Transhumanist

Transhumanist, I don't mean to pile on, but I do have a suggestion. Could we perhaps get one of the image/copyright "guru's to submit something that's easy to understand in the virtual classroom? I'm afraid I don't really get it - lot's of images seem to be unacceptable, I can't figure out how to register and image at commons. Thanks for considering it,NinaEliza 01:21, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Such a lesson would mostly point out the problems with the Image department(s) of Wikipedia. It would be better to go in and fix those problems directly than merely write about them. The template used to indicate copyright status of an image creates a lot of confusion, for instance. The Transhumanist
Might want to add Mathbot to the edit counting section. Cheers Lethaniol 17:32, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

All around it is a pretty cool page. Is this intended to be moved to the Wikipedia: namespace? If that is the case there should be no recommendation to update ones monobook to the same as you have—though I do not doubt the integrity of those tools, and it seems like you keep this stuff in your subpages anyway. I also think it could use some more descriptive links, even if the link seems obvious. For example, under Tools#Bots, change the text "Types" to "Types of bots" (as the link suggests).

And a question: you are working on providing brief descriptions of each tool you have listed? I think it's pretty impressive and commendable that you would undertake a task such as this (along with the other pages in the set). − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 08:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nope, it's not going to be moved to the Wikipedia namespace. But anyone can cut and paste and adapt it for use there if they want. The current version is a list of the tools I use, and serves as a menu as well (for when I'm really tired). I expanded the bot links, and a couple others. Thanks for the tip!
Descriptions? Good idea. I'll add them in where the nature of the item is not obvious. And thanks for the encouragement! The Transhumanist 00:28, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggested tool

Hi, I wonder whether this tool might be worth adding to your list? It adds a "Wikify" button to Google Scholar results to allow the easy {{Citation}} formatting of references. Cheers, Verisimilus T 13:02, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Whoa. That's awesome! I'll add it to my tools page and my tools menu. Thank you! The Transhumanist 18:40, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

First person

edit

If this page is in the Wikipedia namespace, why is it written in the first person? Libcub (talk) 05:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

It was originally in user space. I donated the page to the Wikipedia namespace because I don't have the time to maintain it. The Transhumanist 14:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The link to the Google Scholar to citation assistant, http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~ms609/Wiki/Scholar, appears to be broken. Elcidia (talk) 19:41, 2 September 2011 (UTC).Reply
