Examples edit

As I mentioned in the earlier conversation, there are going to be some issues with showing what a copyright violation looks like. Any ideas how to work around that? Beeblebrox (talk) 04:39, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, you could point out that "Fourscore and seven years ago..." is _not_ a copyvio. :-) --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 05:10, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
The other one that is leaving me clueless is log redaction. It is so narrowly defined I'm not sure I've ever seen a case where it would have been acceptable. Perhaps a few negative examples? Beeblebrox (talk) 04:59, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
"User:Example is a complete asshole, and I should have done this a long time ago" would be a negative blocklog candidate. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 05:10, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Working around that is easy enough if we use an example with public domain material. As long as people can see the idea, we're good. :) OTOH, do we really need an example for this? It might be a good idea to nail down some parameters, but I think in this case guidelines might be better than examples. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:37, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom,
it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light,
it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope,
it was the winter of despair,
Since this is not an actual copyright violation, it cannot serve as an example of copyright violation without further explanation. 89.217.22.3 (talk) 12:59, 8 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have much the same concern, but.... --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 14:57, 2 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
