Meetup website edit

I just noticed this with some of the other cities' meetups. Perhaps we could have a look at this website next time. enochlau (talk) 13:43, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Talk page restarted edit

I'm finding it hard to make the meetup page for Sydney work nicely... so I'm moving discussion to the talk page and meetup info to the main page. Hope nobody minds! - Ta bu shi da yu 08:07, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Moved from main edit

Usually, we spam everyone who's listed as being in Sydney, so I guess unless you're not listed under Category:Wikipedians in Sydney, but you wish to be involved, there's no real need to list yourself here... enochlau (talk) 11:20, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am a recently activated Wikipedian in Kogarah, Sydney - Male, 35, single no kids. I'm constructing some articles around Statelessness now, and will work towards Statelessness becoming a Wikipedia Good Article. Please advise me about your future meetings. My user page tells a lot about me and also links to my homepage and photo album. DavidYork71 18:24, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sydney Wikimania get-together? edit

Is anyone planning a local get-together to coincide with Wikimania[1]? It's on August 4-6, i.e. this coming weekend, starting Friday night.

It would be interesting to get together to talk about it; and also get involved in Wikimania online. (We can follow and get involved in Wikimania online on our own as well, but it will be more interesting with other actual humans to talk with and bounce ideas off).

One of my particular interests is this: There will be also sessions focused on non-Wikimedia projects, such as... related projects in the developing world.[2]

I'm in Homebush, Sydney, and am willing to travel within the wider Sydney region. I also posted a note on Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board.

Times: I believe Boston has daylight saving, making it 14 hours behind... so the 9a.m. opening of the conference, their time, is 11 pm Friday 4 August, for us. Of course discussions are likely to go on before during and after the conference. --Singkong2005 talk 11:38, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can't do anything in Sydney this weekend, I'll be up in Brisbane. Andjam 11:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Rather short notice. I doubt I'd be able to do anything... although let me know if anything is planned. enochlau (talk) 13:55, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
My default option is to stay here, in Homebush, and spend a good part of the weekend following the conference online (with breaks for cooking or grabbing Sri Lankan take-away). I'm staying at a friend's place, who hopefully will have a wireless connection running by then, which would make it possible for someone with a laptop and wireless card to join in here, if they wished. Let me know if that's of interest, or if anyone has other ideas... --Singkong2005 talk 01:05, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Meetup date edit

OK, just incase anyone watches this page not the project page... It seems the next Sydney meetup will be 21 July. At Parramatta. Near the train station. Garrie 04:15, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chapter incorporation meeting edit

Would such a meeting mean talking about boring (but very important) legal stuff rather than about wikipedia? Andjam (talk) 22:57, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

late May 2011 edit

I will be passing through Sydney either on 22nd/23rd or 27th(evening)-29th. Is anyone interested in a meetup on either weekend? John Vandenberg (chat) 07:09, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, we could do dinner or a pub - whereabouts geographically will you be? Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:23, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty flexible. I'm in Canberra May 24-27, and considering driving instead of flying, going via Sydney/Newcastle one way and a rural route the other way. John Vandenberg (chat) 00:44, 6 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of which, when's the next meetup going to be and where? —James (TalkContribs)8:09pm 10:09, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nov 18-19 edit

Some of us are planning to come to Sydney for GovCamp on November 19[3][4], and a few of us from the APC project started planning a meeting in Sydney on November 18. There is also a meetup in Canberra on November 20 in the afternoon. It would be good to have a meetup on either Friday or Saturday night. John Vandenberg (chat) 00:18, 1 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Certainly possible in possibly attending...Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:46, 1 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Likewise, I'd be interested in attending --PeterJeremy (talk) 06:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Great. I've started Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney/November 2011. I think after GovCamp would be good. That way, we might be able to attract a few GovCampers to attend. But if Friday evening is better for anyone, hit the ole [edit] button. Once we have a few confirmed people available for a specific date we should put up a Geonotice. May meetup edit

I am going to be down in Sydney and available on the weekend of 4 May. Is anyone interested in a meetup? John Vandenberg (chat) 11:05, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sounds excellent, John. Any suggestions for location? Tony (talk) 11:14, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'll be staying in the city, and dont have any fixed plans, so most places and times are convenient for me. I thought the Nov 2011 meetup went well, so same place same time?? John Vandenberg (chat) 11:21, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Fine by me, and I'm flexible about places and times. It's winter of course, so will get dark just after 5pm. In November we started at 5pm. Tony (talk) 12:29, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Daylight matters not in a pub. Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:42, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Clear for me at this stage. Saturday the 5th I assume? --99of9 (talk) 12:48, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yep, but it might be noisy inside, and we'll wanna talk. Outside was just lovely on that sunny day. I guess I'd better not stretch their rules by bringing my dog this time. :-( Tony (talk) 12:55, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

As we have a few people interested, I've created Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney/May 2012 to continue to discussion and planning. John Vandenberg (chat) 23:14, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

January public Wikimedia Australia meeting edit

See Wikipedia:Australian_Wikipedians'_notice_board#January_public_Wikimedia_Australia_meeting.

Siska and I will be in Sydney for new years, and on Thursday 10 January. Happy to meet up with anyone else watching the fireworks in the city, or catch up somewhere quiet on new years day. Anyone interested in dinner on Thursday 10 January? John Vandenberg (chat) 04:17, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
