The Getaway is a 1972 American thriller film based on the 1958 novel by Jim Thompson. Directed by Sam Peckinpah and written by Walter Hill, it stars Steve McQueen (pictured), Ali MacGraw, Ben Johnson, Al Lettieri, and Sally Struthers. The plot follows imprisoned robber Carter "Doc" McCoy (McQueen), whose wife Carol (MacGraw) arranges his release with the help of a corrupt businessman in exchange for conspiring to rob a bank in Texas. A double-cross follows the crime, and the McCoys are forced to flee to Mexico with the police and criminals in hot pursuit. Principal photography on the film began in Huntsville, Texas, where Peckinpah shot the opening prison scenes at the Huntsville Penitentiary, with McQueen surrounded by actual prisoners. A box office hit earning over $36 million, The Getaway was the second-highest-grossing film of the year, and was one of the most financially successful productions of Peckinpah's and McQueen's careers. You've gone incognito (and anyone else interested): thoughts and edits are welcome. This is the last batch of blurbs for older FACs for a while. I'll be starting a wikibreak tomorrow, but I'll keep an eye on this page. - Dank (push to talk) 22:03, 26 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Looks nice, though adding Steve McQueen's photo would be nicer. You've gone incognito (talkcontribs) 02:08, 27 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
