TFA blurb review edit

Secretariat (March 30, 1970 – October 4, 1989) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who, in 1973, became the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years. During his racing career, he won five Eclipse Awards, including American Horse of the Year honors at ages two and three. In The Blood-Horse's List of the Top 100 U.S. Racehorses of the 20th Century, Secretariat is second only to Man o' War (racing career 1919–1920). In winning the Triple Crown, Secretariat set speed records in all three races. His time in the Kentucky Derby still stands as the Churchill Downs track record for 1+14 miles. He won the Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths while setting an American time record for 1+12 miles on dirt. His time in the Preakness Stakes was eventually recognized as a stakes record. He also set a world record in the Marlboro Cup for 1+18 miles on dirt, and proved his versatility by winning two major stakes races on turf. He died from laminitis at age 19. (Full article...)

Montanabw and Jlvsclrk (and anyone else interested): thoughts and edits are welcome. There's no rush; this hasn't been scheduled at TFA yet. This batch finishes up blurbs for FACs promoted in 2016. - Dank (push to talk) 23:39, 16 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

For the Belmont Stakes, he set two different records that look to be merged in the blurb: the 31 lengths is a record for margin of victory and his time (of 2:24) was a new American record. Suggest changing to "by 31 lengths while setting an American record for..." ! Otherwise looks excellent. As for scheduling, March 30, 2020 is 50 years since he was foaled. @Dank: The article does contain some free images, notably File:Owner_Meadow_Stable.svg, and I think File:Secretariat_statue.jpg (statue was finished and erected pre-new copyright law). Worth adding if you can Montanabw(talk) 23:47, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
