Redirect

edit

As this redirect has been the subject of two discussions (as noted above), it shouldn't be retargeted without discussion. I've restored the previous redirect. - auburnpilot talk 02:24, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Take two

edit

Re-targeted again in completely separate incident without TfD consensus. I've restored pending any new consensus otherwise. Rgrds. --Tombstone (talk) 08:17, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Redirecting

edit

I am redirect this to the Theatre project. I can't imagine any good encyclopedic reason for it to point to ANI. It's a silly, lame, joke which gives exactly the wrong signal to users. If anyone wants to revert to ANI redirect, please give good practical reasons why that is helpful - but I'll be amazed if you can. There is no need for an RfD here, since, on reflection, moving the redirect is all that is needed not deletion.--Scott Mac (Doc) 15:07, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

See Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2007 February 19#WP:DRAMA → Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard and Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2008 May 28#Wikipedia:DRAMA → Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. --auburnpilot talk 15:11, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's not an argument based on utility to the encyclopedia, and frankly I don't see any such in those debates, so we may safely ignore them.--Scott Mac (Doc) 15:13, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just landing on this discussion many years later, it seems to me that Scott MacDonald is right. It's asinine to redirect this to a humor essay instead of a Wikiproject. WikiProject Theatre is a perfectly reasonable redirect target that might actually benefit the community. Protonk (talk) 13:53, 10 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Making the request per the above. Humor essays are great, but if we're not going to have the fun of WP:DRAMA linking to the drama board, we should have it link to something useful. There are past RfDs, but they're old enough to ride a roller-coaster at this point, so I don't feel particularly bound by them. Specifically, I want to replace the content with #REDIRECT [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:WikiProject Theatre]] {{R from shortcut}}. Thank you. Protonk (talk) 13:08, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not done: @Protonk: I don't disagree with your reasoning, but we have to consider all the existing links to WP:DRAMA that would be broken by such an edit. I just chose three pages at random from Special:WhatLinksHere/WP:DRAMA, and three out of four of the links to WP:DRAMA on those pages were mentioning the kind of drama covered by the essay, not by the WikiProject. (The other was talking about the redirect page itself.) There are also some links which are ambiguous, so your proposed change would give those comments a new meaning, rather than just seeming wrong. For example, one of them was a reference in an RfA to "spending too much time on the wrong side of WP:DRAMA". That would be an unfortunate change of nuance if it came to refer to WikiProject Theatre. :) So I'm going to have to decline this, but you are of course free to take this up at RfD if you want. Thanks, Mr. Stradivarius. You're right, RfD is probably the best course. Protonk (talk) 18:46, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
