This course (ES/WGS 350-70/71; TR 4:10-6pm) examines the complex relationships between gender, race, science, and technology in historical and contemporary contexts. This examination highlights the role of ethical, social, cultural, political, and economic factors in determining historical and contemporary meanings of scientific and technical practice, as well as knowledge and beliefs about gender, race, class, and sexuality. The course also asks students to engage with reform efforts that seek to create more socially responsible scientific and technical knowledge production and decision-making practices.

Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media.

NOTE from Dr. Lehr: Working in a group & not using your Sandbox anymore this quarter? In your Sandbox, please add a link to the Sandbox your group is utilizing to draft (e.g., the Sandbox of your group member).

In addition to continued work on your article draft and your completion of the training module & exercise:

  • In the Talk Section of your article draft's Sandbox, please list what you want to accomplish by 12/6/18 and your status towards these goals. Please use the Wikipedia Assignment Rubric to provide the framework for your status update. Please also describe the strategies you will utilize to make sure that you meet your goals and your timeline.

Guiding framework

Each student should invidually assign themselves 2 draft articles created by their peers & then review. Follow the directions in the Training Module. Utilize the format suggested:

  1. First, what does the article do well? Is there anything from your review that impressed you? Any turn of phrase that described the subject in a clear way?
  2. What changes would you suggest the author(s) apply to the article? Why would those changes be an improvement? 
  3. What's the most important thing the author(s) could do to improve the article?
  4. Did you notice anything about the article you reviewed that could be applicable to your own article? Let them know!

Every student has finished reviewing at least 2 articles written by peers (making sure that every article created by a peer has been reviewed).

Then, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.

This may include responding to other Wikipedians on the "live article's Talk page" if there was some engagement with your changes since you began to move some of your work to Wikipedia (between 11/16 to 11/29).
