Gradius V edit

One of the more complete Gradius articles, and could certainly benefit from the critical eye of the CVG project members at this point. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Vic Vipr TC 09:48, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A section about how the game was rated and received by magazines and web sites would be a good addition. Thunderbrand 19:31, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I didn't get to this earlier. Here are my thoughts:
  • Lead needs citations. Reviews for 1.("this game has been noted for...") and 2.("retaining many aspects that have made this series popular with fans") A news/E3 coverage article for 3.("first public appearance at E3").
  • As noted earlier, the Reception section needs some meat there, probably web citations to the Gamespy and other review links if possible (not sure is Famitsu/Super PLAY are available). Definitely should mention that the game was released at a low price, and that it was commercially unsuccessful despite its good reviews. (I'm not 100% sure on the sales numbers, but I'm fairly sure it didn't do that well.) If a secondary source is available, maybe something about the dearth and death of shmups, and R-Type Final also coming out that year - though the importance of Gradius to the genre is already obvious, this adds more context.
Good work so far. --SevereTireDamage 09:52, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • The prose could stand for some work if you plan on pushing for featured status. I copyedited the lead, but it might have changes some meanings (seeing as I've never played Graduius). I'll make a few more edits throughout, looking for redundancies and balance. — Deckiller 17:37, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • The story section needs to be compressed, tightened, and formalized; I saw cases of elipses, excess adjectives, and so on. It might be best to have someone familiar with the game redo that particular section. — Deckiller 17:46, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Additionally, the story section does not need to be broken up into subheadings. An image or two would be appropriate; perhaps one for the synopsis and one for the gameplay.
    • The bulleted lists should be converted to prose
    • A reception and criticism section should be included toward the bottom — see one of the Final Fantasy featured articles for an example.

Overall, it looks like a good start to what could become a featured article down the road. — Deckiller 17:50, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
