Parameter descriptions

• name Name of the franchise
• founded Year when the franchise was founded (shouldn't be wikified -- will link to [[YEAR in sports]])
• first_season [OPTIONAL] Year of the franchise's first season (if different from the year founded)
• city Name of the city in which the franchise is based, in the form City, State (should be wikified)
• misc [OPTIONAL] text appears directly below the "Play in City, State" line and above the logo
• logo [OPTIONAL] File name of the image logo, in the form image_name.ext
• wordmark [OPTIONAL] File name of the wordmark logo, in the form image_name.ext
• affiliate_old [OPTIONAL] A list of the team's previous league, conference, and division affiliations prior to joining the NFL (for usage example see New York Jets)
• NFL_start_yr Year the team joined the NFL
• division_hist A hierarchical, bulleted, chronologically ordered list of the team's previous and current conference and division affiliations in the NFL (Conference and division names should be wikified, if articles exist, and the current conference and division should be bolded)
• uniform [OPTIONAL] Image of the team's current uniforms, in the form Image:image_name.ext (without brackets)
• colors The franchise's official colors, in text with colorboxes ({{colorbox|COLOR}}) on a second line
• song [OPTIONAL] Team's fight song (wikify if an article for the song exists)
• mascot [OPTIONAL] Team mascot (wikify if an article on the mascot exists)
• website Team website
• owner [OPTIONAL] Current franchise owner(s) (wikified as appropriate)
• chairman [OPTIONAL] Current head of the franchise board of directors (wikified as appropriate)

• pre1970sb_champs [OPTIONAL] A comma-separated list of the Super Bowls that the team has won prior to the 1970 AFL–NFL merger
• no_pre1970sb_champs [OPTIONAL] Total number of Super Bowl championships prior to the 1970 AFL–NFL merger
• no_sb_champs [OPTIONAL] Total number of Super Bowl championships, default value is 0
• sb_champs [OPTIONAL] A comma-separated list of the Super Bowls that the team has won
• no_conf_champs [OPTIONAL] Total number of conference championships, default value is 0
• conf_champs [OPTIONAL] A comma-separated list of the seasons in which the team has a conference championship
• no_div_champs [OPTIONAL] Total number of division championships, default value is 0
• div_champs [OPTIONAL] A comma-separated list of the seasons in which the team has a division championship
• no_playoff_appearances [OPTIONAL] Total number of post-season appearances, default value is 0
• playoff_appearances [OPTIONAL] A comma-separated list of the seasons in which the team has a playoff appearance
• stadium_years A bulleted list of the team's previous and current home fields (current stadium should be bolded)
• team_owners [OPTIONAL] Chronologically ordered list of the previous and current owners of the franchise, linked as appropriate and with years of ownership in parenthesis
• team_presidents [OPTIONAL] Chronologically ordered list of the previous and current presidents of the franchise, linked as appropriate and with years of ownership in parenthesis

Parameters

Mandatory

These fields will be shown regardless of whether a value is given

team

The franchise name this article describes. This parameter will automatically code the color of the infobox. This should generally match the title of the team's Wikipedia article.

year

The year of the season this article describes.

record

The record the franchise had this season in win-lost

division place

The place that the franchise had within their division. The division name ought to be wikified if there is an article for it.

coach

The name of the head coach of the franchise for this season. The head coach's name ought to be wikified if there is an article.

stadium

The name of the stadium that the franchise played their home games at during this season. The stadium name ought to be wikified.

playoffs

The playoff game(s) that the franchise played during this season. It should be '''W''' or '''L''' followed by Wild Card and/or Divisional and/or Conference and/or Super Bowl ?, where the ? is the Roman numeral of the Super Bowl, or NFL Championship. The Super Bowl and the NFL Championship should be wikified to the correct article and if more than one playoff game was played enter a <br/> after each game played. If the franchise did not play in the postseason enter "did not qualify".

These fields will not be shown if the parameter is omitted or if no value is given

owner

The majority owner or owners for the franchise during the season. The owner(s) name(s) ought to be wikified if there is an article.

president

The team president for the franchise during the season. The president's name ought to be wikified if there is an article.

general manager

The general manager for the franchise during the season. The GM's name ought to be wikified if there is an article.

offensive coordinator

The offensive coordinatorr for the franchise during the season. The OC's name ought to be wikified if there is an article.

defensive coordinator

The defensive coordinatorr for the franchise during the season. The DC's name ought to be wikified if there is an article.

conference place

The place that the franchise had within their conference. The conference name ought to be wikified.

local radio

The broadcast radio flagship(s) during the season.

pro bowlers

Players who were selected to play in the NFL Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl year is always the following year of the season.

If more than one or two players are listed, consider using a Template:Collapsible list, for example:

AP All-pros

Players who were selected to the Associated Press All-Pro team. As with Pro Bowlers, consider using a collapsible list (see example above) if more than a couple of players are listed.

All-AFL

Players who were selected to the Associated Press All-AFL team. As with AP All-pros, consider using a collapsible list (see example above) if more than a couple of players are listed.

AFL allstars

Players who were selected to play in the AFL All-Star Game (1960–1970).

MVP

The player selected as the team Most Valuable Player.

ROY

The player selected as the team Rookie of the Year.

MOP, MOC, MOR

For CFL players selected as their teams' nominees.

uniform

Used just like the parameter in Template:NFL team. Makes a new infobox section with a uniform image, the name of which is used for the parameter.

shortnavlink

Defines what will be displayed on the link to (generally) the "List of <Team> seasons" article. If this parameter is not defined the link will default to either "<Team> seasons" (e.g. Dallas Cowboys seasons) or to "<Team>" depending on whether a "List of <Team> seasons" article exists.

previous

Rarely necessary. The franchise's previous season (-1) is automatically linked without using this parameter. It should only be included to override when the franchise had a break in their season chronology and/or changed names, where the automatic link would point to the wrong article.

next

Rarely necessary. The franchise's next season (+1) is automatically linked without using this parameter. It should only be included to override when the franchise had a break in their season chronology and/or changed names, where the automatic link would point to the wrong article.

teamdisplay

Rarely necessary. This parameter is used only in cases where the "team" parameter contains some sort of disambiguation that you don't want to be displayed in the infobox. (see e.g. 1939 Pittsburgh Pirates (NFL) season)

no_prevseason

Rarely used. This parameter should be set to "true" on any article covering a team's inaugural season.

no_nextseason

Rarely used. This parameter should be set to "true" on any article covering the final season of a team that has folded.

no_seasonslist

Rarely used. This parameter if set to "true" allows one to suppress the display of the "List of <Team> seasons" link which normally appears between the links to the next and previous season articles. This can be useful in cases where a team has a very short existence.

alternatenav

Rarely used. This allows one to completely bypass the logic that defines the previous/next seasons navigation. This is useful primarily at unusual junctions for a franchise where the default logic doesn't work well. A good example of the use of this parameter is 1950 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season.

Deprecated

teamcolor

This was used in conjunction with Template:Gridiron primary color, Template:Gridiron secondary color, Template:Gridiron alt primary color, and Template:Gridiron alt secondary color in cases when a different color scheme is needed from the current one (i.e. for historical season infoboxes). The color templates have since been re-written to use the year parameter to determine the historically-appropriate color scheme, so this parameter was removed here. If you see an implementation of this template using this parameter, please know that it can (and should) be removed.

Microformat

The HTML mark-up produced by this template includes an hCard microformat that makes an organization's details readily parsable by computer programs. This aids tasks such as the cataloguing of articles and maintenance of databases. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please visit the Microformat WikiProject.

Subtemplates

• Use {{Start date and age}} for the date on which an organisation was "established", "founded", "opened" or otherwise started, unless that date is before 1583 CE.
• Use {{URL}} for an organisation's URL.

Please do not remove instances of these subtemplates.
