This is a project guideline for the structure of Wikipedia articles about the ~600 Docklands Light Railway, London Overground, London Underground and National Rail stations in the London fare zones.
Article naming conventions edit
Infobox edit
- {{Infobox London station}} is used on articles for all stations. There are specific fields for National Rail and/or London Underground.
Introduction edit
The lead should define the topic and summarize the body of the article with appropriate weight.
Sections edit
The sections to include in the article will vary depending on the station's history and significance, but the following may be appropriate:
- History
- Things to mention:
- Opening date and by which railway company
- If the railway through the site opened before the station
- Electrification
- Why the station was built and/or rebuilt and name of architects or engineers
- Changes of ownership and service operators
- Description of the station buildings and layout
- Services
- Summary of services - in a developed article this will be in prose, unless it is a large/complex service pattern
- Gallery
- Optional - a developed article will not need this
- Should be kept to a no more than three or four images at most
- See also
- Optional - do not repeat the nav footers, most likely only used to link to nearby related stations
- References
- All articles require {{reflist}} - the infobox generates some references

- Succession boxes linking to adjacent stations

Categories edit
- By fare zone: e.g. Category:Rail transport stations in London fare zone 1 <generated automatically by the infobox from the fare_zone fields>
- By borough: e.g. Category:Tube stations in the City of Westminster or Category:Railway stations in the City of Westminster
- By lines: e.g. Category:Central line (London Underground) stations or Category:Railway stations served by Chiltern Railways
