This checklist is an attempt to get some insight in what is done and what still needs to be done with regard to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Lepidoptera. The table lists all families (based on Template:Lepidoptera), followed by a symbol to be able to easily see the progress with regards to the family. User:Ruigeroeland initially made this for myself, because I was getting somewhat confused as to what was, and what was not done, but decided to share it with everyone in hopes it would benefit more people than just myself. Feel free to alter the table if you feel this might be useful.

What do the symbols mean?

edit
Symbol Meaning
  Not done
Done, but not based on a comprehensive source
Done and based on a comprehensive source

If the genus check mark is orange, it means the information is gathered from various sources. It is intended to be complete, but we cannot be sure, because there is no check list available for all species.

If both symbols are green check Marks, this does not mean there is no work to be done. All articles might just be stubs, but it means they are made.

If the symbols are crosses, that does not mean nothing has been done, but no attempt has been made to completely cover the whole family. It might be 99% is done, but this has not been verified as of yet.

When to switch symbols

edit

Please only replace a cross with a check mark if you:

  • For genera: made the genus page with all species and synonyms for the genus. Redirect these synonyms to the genus page.
  • For species: made the species page with all subspecies and all synonyms for the species. Redirect these synonyms to the species page.

Checklist by location

edit

Another way to work on articles is trying to make articles on all species which are found in a certain region. There is no check list for this. But I have a draft page on my sandbox with links to all regional checklists that are available on Wikipedia. See: User:Ruigeroeland/Sandbox3
