Focus on...

JESUS
CHRIST

"But who do you say that I am?" asked Jesus in Luke 9:20. Peter answered: "The Christ of God". Peter's proclamation of Jesus as the Christ and Jesus' acceptance of it in Matthew 16:15-16 provides a turning point in the overall narrative of the gospels, by which Jesus is identified to his disciples as Christ.

Although Mark 1:1 clearly proclaims Jesus as Christ, as the article Confession of Peter explains how from a narrative perspective this proclamation along with the Transfiguration of Jesus form a turning point about the mid-way through the ministry of Jesus; after which he begins his final journey to Jerusalem.

In this and the next four issues of Ichthus, we will end the year and start another anew by building on this theme and discuss how the study of the love, knowledge and imitation of Christ form the fabric of Christian beliefs about him.
