Hello, I am new here and not familiar with all the Wikipedia syntax so any help would be much appreciated. Please I know you are swamped with articles to review but if you can show me exactly the areas in my submission are that need to be addressed , I can begin work on them.

Unqienyc (talk) 16:35, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Unqie. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. Later today, I'll leave some specific comments on the talk page of your draft. NewYorkActuary (talk) 18:13, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would love some help with the references for this page, maybe help me identify what am I doing it wrong Lucyscaranzzi (talk) 20:40, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lucyscaranzzi, references should be inserted in the text of the article using <ref></ref>, and they will then automatically populate at the bottom of the article. So for example when you type this:
There are no cats in America and the streets are made of cheese.<ref>An American Tail (1986) Universal Pictures</ref>
What actually gets displayed is this:

There are no cats in America and the streets are made of cheese.[1]

References

References

  1. ^ An American Tail (1986) Universal Pictures
Hope this helps. TimothyJosephWood 20:49, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article rejected due to sources. Help? Draft:EYRST,

This article I posted says that the sources are too closely associated with the label. Is this because I have links to the actual label website in the sources? Can anyone help me out with this? I feel like the sources are on point, but I can't figure out why it's being denied.

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sawalrath (talkcontribs) 23:51, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Sawalrath. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. The best source of information as to why your submission was declined is the reviewer who looked at it. You can find the name and Talk page button of that person at the top of your draft. But perhaps it will be helpful if I note a few basic principles. Topics that have articles on Wikipedia generally are those that are "notable" in the sense that Wikipedia uses that word. In the case of companies, including record companies, the demonstration of "notability" requires the existence of in-depth coverage of the company by reliable sources that are independent of the company. And so, basing an article on what the record company says about itself on its web site is not going to be sufficient to demonstrate "notability". More detail on this requirement can be found in our discussion of the general notability guidelines at WP:GNG. I took a quick look at your draft and found it difficult to assess the reliability of the sources that you used, in large part because you have also failed to follow the guidance under WP:CITE, regarding essential bibliographic information. Your references are in the form of bare URL's, which doesn't tell us who wrote the items, or when and where they were published. This problem can be avoided if the references are formatted using an appropriate citation template. For your draft, it look like {{cite web}} might be the most helpful. I hope this response has been helpful. NewYorkActuary (talk) 04:45, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
