Hello, IP address. Do you have a specific question? NewYorkActuary (talk) 03:14, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Your draft is nothing but a title. Do you want someone to write an article about it. If so, try Requested articles. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:19, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Help Desk team,

One of comments from the reviewer explaining why my article was declined was: "Regardless, this currently is only formatted as a business listing and thus not satisfying our notability policies." Could you please comment, what could be done to an article not to be a "business listing" (and what does it mean)? I used this approved article as a template: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocarbdb and made my article the same style, but provided more details and references. So what is wrong in my article and correct in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocarbdb ?

Another comment from the same reviewer was that all referecenes refer to papers which I co-authored. I disagree that this can be an obstacle for verifyability, because all these papers underwent peer review by experts in the field during submission, and as a result were accepted and published in referencible scientific journals/books. It makes them considered as an approved scientific knowledge, regardless of who were the authors (this is how scientific publishing generally works). However, I am going to add more references from other authors in my future edits.

thank you for assistance Toux (talk) 00:04, 23 December 2016 (UTC) Toux (talk) 00:04, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Toux. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. The best sources of information as to why you submission was declined are the people who reviewed it. You can find their names and Talk page buttons at the top of your submission. Before posting here, I took a look at your draft and found that I also would have declined it, but for reasons other than the ones mentioned by the reviewers (i.e., close paraphrasing of sources and promotional focus). My reason would have been your failure to demonstrate "notability" in the sense that Wikipedia uses that word. All of your approximately twenty sources are either the organizations maintaining the database or papers that you have co-authored. You have not demonstrated that anyone unconnected with the database has seen fit to give it an in-depth discussion that has been published in reliable sources. For more detail on our general notion of "notability", please see WP:Notability (which are often called the "general notability guidelines". I hope this response has been helpful. WHAT CAN i DO TO GET THE PAGE FOR JERRY EHRLICH AS A NOTABLE ONE. THANKS

Well, the first problem with the draft is that it includes no references. In order to establish notability for the purposes of Wikipedia, articles need to include references that demonstrate sustained non-trivial coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. For guidance on referencing for Wikipedia, see Help:Referencing for beginners. TimothyJosephWood 16:55, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the title is too long. Is there a reason it can't simply be Draft:Jerry Ehrlich? There doesn't seem to be another Jerry Ehrlich in Wikipedia. Also, the draft has an informal tone and should be more formal. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:22, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I see that the draft has been moved. I have a question. Is it true, or is it just made up? It reads like it was made up. That is why we need references. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:13, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted 3 pages. Two of those pages include my personal Biography and another persons biography. The last is on a project we are working on. All three submissions were rejected. I do not understand why. If someone felt like I was trying to do an advertisement for the project I can work with the project submission to make them feel more at ease. But my personal bio and the bio of Sevda Beytas are not advertisements. Please help me to understand what the real issue is and help me to fix it.

Thanks

Emccraw (talk) 09:38, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No. Please read the notability policy and the autobiography guideline. Other than whether the pages read like advertisements, there are also questions about whether the people are notable. Simply trying to make a reviewer feel "more at ease" will not make non-notable people notable. Unfortunately, I think that my advice will not be about what to do so that you can make changes and resubmit, but that you probably shouldn't even bother trying to resubmit. Hello, Matt. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. Frankly, I think it is going to be difficult for you to post an autobiography on Wikipedia. We generally require that biographies (whether autobiographies or not) satisfy the conditions set forth in WP:Notability (people) and this, in turn, requires multiple instances of in-depth coverage by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. In your draft, the only references are to IMDB (which we do not accept as reliable) and to one of your own works. Without substantive coverage from independent sources, there is little chance of us accepting your autobiography for publication. I hope this response has been helpful.
